Is there any known history to the cowl intake hole the pics show being patched up?. [/ QUOTE ] Per Jim Wangers, Pete, sometime after his ownership the firewall was modified for cowl induction. I've read this was done by Milt Schornack. I've seen photos of three holes cut into the firewall. When I got the car, they'd been transformed into the opening pictured. |

Re: Tenney's 64 Wangers GTO...
Jim mentioned he only allowed the C&D team a few passes on slicks, fearing a blown diff. Something he later confirmed for himself on Woodward, electing to return to street meats.
Did Bill Sherman have a similar experience ...? http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/s...F/64Slicks.jpg http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/s...F/64RRdiff.jpg http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/ss319/TenneyF/65.jpg |

Re: Tenney's 64 Wangers GTO...
Did you notice the labor rate on the repair orders ? $6.00 an hour. Looks like it got a rear end and engine rebuild under warranty. That is the same flat rate we had at the Pontiac dealer I worked for in 1966.

Six bucks?! Guess Scott's dedication to authenticity only goes so far ...! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
Would $349.45 have been a decent deal for an installed 428 short block circa 11/17/67? |

Jim's book talks about a kid approaching them w/the song. They produced it w/studio musicians and it became somewhat of a hit. Then they had to "assemble" the band Johnny Bravo-style. |

Re: Tenney's 64 Wangers GTO...
Jim Wangers had added a wood dash applique and steering wheel hub when the car was with him. It came apart during clean-up, and Scott insisted we put it back in ... here's an action shot of JW laying his JH on the hub ...
http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/ss319/TenneyF/JH.jpg The car wasn't built w/splitters, per production manifest, but were on it when I got it. Mr. Wangers had them installed for some Woodward marketing, hoping to entice an extra check on an option sheet or two ... they're back now, as well ... http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/s...fsplitters.jpg Clean-up complete (for now?). |
