I don't really care who gets it or how much it is...if it's legit it's a pretty cool car. Hope it has original docs.I personally would never buy a car based on it having a letter from Joel saying it was real. I think in this day and age..real documents are the only way to go.

Tom;
You are absolutely correct. There was a post I added that somehow isn't on the thread anymore? Maybe I did something wrong.....but have never had this happen before!

Anyhow, it is not me-- but is a friend who spoke with this gentleman at 6 am yesterday and offered the "higher than asked" price for the car. I am not trying to hide that.

jfkheat- I agree wholeheartedly about the discussions regarding the ethics of purchasing something way under value when the seller doesn't know. I asked that very question 14 hours ago.

Does anyone have firsthand knowledge of someone that has actually seen the car or any of the paperwork? Hope it turns out to be real, just hearing some odd things.

Tom- I am not sure what you are accusing me of, if anything. But, I don't have control of the posts on this site-- I am not the moderator. I posted right at the same time I sent a PM to Enoch that it isn't me who is the one from Iowa, but it never showed up. I am not one for "black helicopter" stroies......just not sure what happenend to it.

Now, back to what's important. Tom, what are you insinuating about me personally?

Nice ad,20 year owner, strange phone arrangement, cheap price? He, and his friends that know of the car, have been living under a rock for the past few years? The car slips through the cracks into the public market for 25g's?Maybe, they don't have t.v. or regular phones, and never heard of B.Jackson. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif

Re: 427 Baldwin Motion Nova For Sale

Should I ever find a car for sale like this again I will be sure NOT to post it. The entire purpose for posting it here was to try and help bring to light a potential piece of automotive history that should be shared with all the enthusiasts who will appreciate it. I personally have seen BM Corvettes, Camaros, etc. but never a Nova but I would like to and I would like to know the history behind it. Who better to do this than the people here who are supposed to be experts on them?

Instead this has turned into a matter of prestige and money between many of you, in short the worst parts of this hobby. In the end the car real or not will come to light but the true cost will not be who offered the most cash it will be friendships that have lasted for years falling by the wayside as people squabble over money, metal and bragging rights.

In short I think that some of you should ask yourself what is more important, the financial gains you can make and the bragging rights you will have bought for cash or the true history of these cars and the friendships that this hobby helps to foster between so many of us.

For those of you who are here like me for the pleasure that this hobby usually brings most of us I am sorry for this tirade, for the rest who are here for the money and prestige THINK ABOUT IT.

I can't speak for anyone on the site ,but it would be a good guess on my part that this it what most of the fellas were looking to see come to light, since that was the title of the post......There's been cloak and dagger posts in the past that hit dead ends and I think it was discussed that ones e-mail address be in ones profile---just to keep the game honest....

Re: 427 Baldwin Motion Nova For Sale

67L78...you can rest assured that people who really like the history and owning these cars are here....the only prestige in all this crap is the pride of ownership...Supercar or not...There are always the type of people who lay in the weeds and will do anything in their power to grab a car like this....and then just flip it for more money. I would bet thats what will happen here..and if the guy who bought it is who I think it is...that will happen soon rather than later. After he fugure out a way to hype it up and create the story. JMO.

No problem, first post realy had nothing to do with it. I just went off the edge a little reading the posts, reacting poorly to the greed aspect today that was all. I greatly enjoy talking with the wonderful people I have met here and elsewhere, and I know that the vast majority of the people here are here in a positive way. Sometimes I just have trouble accepting that small number are just greedy. The last thing I want to see is a long standing frinedship(s) to suffer over what in the end is less impartant.

No problems, I wa a little confused as to what I had done wrong.

Here is the update. The other Iowa guy drove 20 hours last night to pick up the car. Seller gave directions to the car, and never showed. One of two things happened:
1) Car wasn't real and was a total scam or
2) Someone else got to the guy and offered more money.

Either way, this was a bad deal all the way around. Like lots of people have said, too bad we don't have another great supercar find to talk about, regardless if you like the buyer personally or not. I would be curious to see if anyone else has spoken to Sal (the seller). If you do, let him know that you won't be falling for his little game. This scam cost someone 6 days and nearly $1000 for the trip.

Re: 427 Baldwin Motion Nova For Sale

Sounds like another weird deal...you can't help but wonder what the motive is...you never know....could be an attempt to whack someone on the head and grab some cash...easier than the local 7-11.

Apparently someone else had a trailer and cash there yesterday and the Seller mysteriously dissappeared when it came time to go see the car. Sounds like no one actually ever saw the car or any paperwork. It sure has made for an exciting weekend following the blow by blow. Pretty bizarre turn of events. Re: 427 Baldwin Motion Nova For Sale

ok, after seeing 12 pages of input on this, I am ready to give my 2cents as a passsive hobbyist.
This got posted and I have watched a full range of emotions from sorry to disappointment to scorn and so on....
The reality is that as soon as this got posted, there was a line forming of people ready to "take this off his hands" for the $25k and when someone recognized that it was real and offered $50k for a car that was admittedly worth $75-100k, you all got up and wallowed in how you all got screwed. The reality is that you all smelled a deal and I am willing to bet that there was a chance the car would be rolled quick once purchased.
As a passive observer of this site, I watched the last fiasco where a guy posted a question to the group about a specific car on Ebay (you remember??) and before you know it there is an identical string of posts to the current going on out there and inevitably, someone getting screwed by someone else and the ethics of everyone else falling in question.
Truth is, if I found a ride that was some type of hidden treasure, the first thing you guys do is try to zero in on location; where is the car, post some pics, do you have a pic of the VIN? and so on til you can try to figure out where the car is or who has it. If I ever came across a ride of any merit, this is the last board I would post to. While I recognize there are some true hobbyist here, the majority are hell bent on finding the next best and greatest ride and taking it out from under someone. Nothing personal, just my 2cents.

Kind of makes you wonder if a certain website set this whole thing up! c'mon, the guy has it stored at a friends place that also happens to have an ls6 convert and they only think this car is worth 25k? And nobody knows of either car? Anytime an ad is placed and someone has a cell with no mailbox kinda makes you wonder. Not saying it does not happen as some people don't like to give out there home phone # but is just seems like a scam.
