Hello. I am the person that Marlin is talking about. I have the Wasp Blue Vega. You can call me to discuss if you want:

To my knowledge, no one knows the volume of Stingers produced. Nor is there a list of the dealers that sold them. Mine came from a dealer in Cincinnati. I have the build sheet, protecto-plate, etc.

I will give you a short information dump of what I know. If someone has more information than I or thinks they know something different, that’s fine.

There are 5 stingers I know of in existence now:

A yellow one in Canada
A Blue one in New Mexico
A Blue one in Iowa with the wrong engine (LT1)
A Green wagon on the east coast – in Florida I think
And mine

None of these cars are turbo cars. A little history on the turbo cars – the turbo cars were basically a stock motor with forged dished pistons for the added heat and pressure installed at Yenko. The turbo came in the trunk and was to be dealer installed.

The standard Stingers had engine options which included an Offenhauser 4 barrel manifold and a Holley 365 cfm carburetor and a header as well. Probably the coolest part of all is a cast aluminum valve cover with the Yenko emblem.

Both cars had anti-hop bars bolted on to the rear end. Other than that, they were basically a GT with the badges removed. Cute little cars, but still a Vega.

Hope this helps a little. Anybody thinking it would be cool to have one of these cars, but can’t find one, should look for a Cosworth. There abundant and a lot more fun to drive.

Re: Jacks vega

There is a MAN-O-RED one in Missouri, pulled from a dairy farm in WI.

Quite a large number of Stingers were sold, the Supercar Registry has several numbers and Cunneen had a rather lengthy list.

In 1971 Yenko's dealer network was over 60 dealers.

I do not believe Yenko sold any turbos. Though listed in the catalog, according to orignal paperwork, first there was problems with the EPA, not only with intalling them on the cars but even selling the turbo kit seperate, and Yenko was having problems with Schwitzer, the company chosen to supply the turbo kit. The Yenko/Schwitzer turbo had a special ID tag attached, with 001 the only one known to exist.

The basic Stinger package included, besides what was in the GT package, 1. anti-hop bars, 2. front Stinger air dam 3. rear Stinger hood spoiler 4. Yenko custom finned aluminum valve cover 5. matt black shadow styling on hood, taillight panel and headlight area 6. Stinger side striping and metal Yenko emblems. Many more addons could be found in Yenk's catalog.

Also, I believe there is a Silver one that has been sold among collectors.

Hey Ken post some pics of the deuce. This is one kick but car. Those sidepipes are just COOL.
Someday we need to get a shot of the two SF deuces together. How about a road trip to the Heartland nova reunion in June?

Sorry bout the hijack. Was the exterior sheetmetal on the 71 and 72 Vegas about the same?

As you heard above, I have quite a bit of information on the Stinger Vegas, including original photos taken by Donna Mae, original invoices on I think about 175 of the cars, magazines, correspondence, etc. I may be interested in selling the entire lot if the price is right. I am spending my time on the Yenko Stingers right now and just purchased the Jamed Rice Stinger collection recently. Please contact me through the yenkostinger.org site if you have an interest.

Did the yenko vega come with a m-20 trans. and what was used for a bellhousing?

I emailed Ed about the sale of his info, but never recieved a reply.

Ed, I could be a serious buyer.
