I must have gotten a deal on my '70 Z. Hugger Orange, white stripes, deluxe sandalwood interior, 4.10's, M-22, RS, AM FM, matching #'s front to back and only $2,900 with fresh paint........Oh yea, that was in 1980. Glad I still have it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

Re: realistic price for 70 Z-28

I bought my first 70 Z/28 for $1500.00 off a used car lot. Hugger Orange, black standard interior, M-21 no console. The year was 1974. Drove the snot out of it never thinking that 30 years later the car would be worth more then what my parents paid for their house.

I now have a 70 Z that needs to be done. Classic Copper, standard sandlewood interior, M-21, no console. $1500.00 doesn't buy me the correct tires and wheels!!

Day 2 all the way with this one. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif

If you go day 2 you don't have to rack your brain matching numbers and date codes. Just have fun! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

And it still will be worth a good dollar as well. I said good not the best top dollar.

Re: realistic price for 70 Z-28

There seem to be quite a few claimed numbers matching 70-71 Z28's in very good condition out there for low 20's to 30K. Then all of the sudden you see some frame off cars that are listed for $45-50K. So I would think a NOM car would be in the mid teens to mid 20's. But it really seem to depend on how accurately it was restored. The question is, are some of these 70-71 Z28's actually selling in the $45-55K range or are those cars asking that and actually getting in the 30's? My comments are based on observations of cars I see for sale, not based on known sales.

Based on the original post.....frame off, correct components execpt NOM, and documents would put this car in the 30's somewhere in my opinion but I know prices can always be debated. I've had my eye out for a correct documented 70Z for quite awhile and they just don't appear that often which is why I'm including 71Z's in my hunt. Most of these Z's have been modified or lived a tougher life. I have someone checking on a 70Z this week that I may or may not take a pass on. Prices on these models have been on a quick rise in the last year like many others.

If anyone is looking for a 70Z I would be happy to share what I know about the one someone is examining for me this week....if I take a pass on it.

Some fella in Michigan had a very nice unrestored 70Z listed with very low miles earlier this year. He changed his mind and took it off the market....probably got a zillion phone calls and learned the car was worth more than he realized. This car would have been a bargain at his listed price of mid 40's if I remember correctly.

Re: realistic price for 70 Z-28

Jeff,

Yes, I know of at least a half dozen sales for between 43-50k. 3 of those I can personally verify were real.

I also know of a very correct 71 that went for 36K. I know because I offered 35k and didn't get it. Personally I think 70's have a premium over 71's but thats me.

The most "expensive" sale I know of ,relatively speaking, was a 70 for 40k that was all messed up. Car had a saddle, standard interior swichted to black, 1/2 deluxe with wrong steering wheel..wtf? Also, wasn't fully numbers matching, missing smog, dist, alt exh man. and more.
