295th (Oct 22) and 296th (Oct23) day of the year. That matches the timeframe of your car. The rotors are also stamped with ink just like that in yellow.

This just in.....

Don Stowers forwarded this photo of his 01B '69 Yenko Camaro. Date on the self-adjuster is consistent with the build date of the car. What a wonderful original car Don. Best of luck with the sale at Mecum!

Re: My '69 Z28 Find

Another update on the Z.

Front end is just about done! New lower ball joints, lower control arm bushings, idler arm, pitman arm, offset shafts, and some hardware were all replaced. The original 2 piece rotors were being cut as I was leaving (the one completed looked great) and new wheel bearings (inner and outer) were being inspected. The oil pan was hot tanked and the dents removed - slug too(!) and the gasket replaced. The flywheel was about to be cut, and the new Ram clutch will be installed shortly too. Delco front shocks should be in today...

New bushings are pressed in the new rear leaf springs along with new hardware... and then some Uncle Sam Scardino Traction Action Bars will be installed, with new rear KYB shocks. The diff and trans are the last items to be gone through and then we're smooth sailing. Waiting on some new rubber and still toying with the exhaust system swap. Enough jabber now onto the photos...

Nice stuff! Everyday is a step in the right direction. Will never have to do what you are doing again! Keep it up.

i think the bumpers were dipped from those holes during the chroming process. if the car had front bumper guards, there would be holes in the lower valance. i couldnt see any from the pic.
buddy

Re: My '69 Z28 Find

I concur on the non-chromed holes in the lower part of the bumper. Camaro bumper guards bolt on using specific clamps, not the holes pictured in your photo.

Re: My '69 Z28 Find

And the final update before picking up the car. Should be all set and done next week. The rear is complete, clutch installed, #403 bellhousing installed, front end set and greased, oil pan cleaned and new gasket installed, oil pump is rebuilt, new rear springs installed too capped by some special traction bars (Thanks Sam Scardino and Dennis Cumby!), have an NOS Sun 10k rpm tach to in, along with a trio pod of Blue Line Gauges... That should be about it.

That's correct, Plastic fill cap and Deep Groove Power Steering Pulley 3941105DD. I've owned my 69 Z/28 since 1977 and its what I see.

I love the fact that you are putting all the mechanicals "right", but not doing a "proper" full resto. I hope you leave it original forever. Restored, it would become just another Z/28. It has character now!

Very neat car!
Seeing people appreciate cars showing a little use and age makes me appreciate my car the way it is more too. Mine has a 22 year old so-so paint job. I'm starting to think it's just fine like this for my lifetime.
