Chris

Normally I would agree with you, but that Vega has a NHRA sticker
which automatically makes it a race car!

A cryin' shame

Here's one for ya! I think it's an honest to goodness real Z/28 (even though you can see the bumper guards are missing). Guess I'll never know. I first talked to the guy 15 years ago, went up to the door and asked if I could just look at the car, no way! You could see the guy is a real piece of work, no teeth, wife beater T-shirt, but hey, I give it my best shot. The guy gets mad, says he's tired of people bothering him about it.

15 years later, it's still sitting there. So I'm accross the street, with my whole family, taking this picture and the guy comes out and starts yelling at me, and starts heading over. His wife runs out and grabs him and drags him back in the house. I did figure the guy out though. He gets his enjoyment from the car by denying it to others. Doesn't really care about the car (obviously, it is literally falling apart). That's just his thing. Not the smartest guy around, but hey, whatever turns your crank, huh? http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s.../Z28inRust.jpg

yes, how true, a racecar... In 1969/70 there was a nurse that lived around the block from me, she drove a green 69 camaro to work at the hospital on most days.
Where did she go on the weekends? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif
The quarter windows were both filled with National Speedway Winner stickers.

Glenn maybe you have pictures of this car. Her name was Pat Darragh and she had a message painted on the rear panel that said "If you can beat me........ you can..... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

I don't remember a Camaro with that moniker but I do remember a Vette with it.
The Vette in the far lane was driven by a hot big haired blonde (who had a big biker boyfriend) in the
mid/late sixties. It had a green custom paint job, multi color, panels, etc., and that saying on the left rear
under the back window.
Her and the car were both hot regulars on the Franklin Ave - Sunrise Hwy. street racing scene. She was a few
years older then me, and I remember her name was Pat. I don't know if she calmed down and moved from the
wild Vette to a more subtle street car or if that's someone else.
Back then we raced EVERY day & night - not the wild 1/4 mile runs on the Conduit or Connecting Highways but
light to light stuff. Super hole shots - powershift second - and by the time you were in third it was heavy brakes
for the up coming light. It definitely got you adrenaline pumping!
Glenn

Look at the amount of people in the stands - its cold out - everyone got a jacket on, its just Sunday racing
and the stands are loaded. You go to some heavily advertised summer events these days and don't see that
kind of turnout!

It would not surprise me if that were a match. She was telling me this story in 1975 and she was blond and in her mid 30's.
I believe she had mentioned an ex (boyfriend or husband) that ran a 68 black charger. She was from Uniondale and then Rockville Centre.

thanks Glenn! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

I went and looked at this Vette on Saturday, It is a one owner 454 LS-5 AT, with 74k on it. It has the original block and trans with it. It has been sitting asleep for 20 yrs.
