Re: GM Nationals @ Carlisle

Neat Story. Grandpa was the original owner and bought the car to drag race. After a broken axle the car got parked and life went on. After he passed father and son put the car back on the road and brought it to the show.

White Nose was due to the special paint color when it was ordered. Was an issue with painting the nose, so they offered the options of a chrome, black or white nose. Since the car had a white gut, he chose a white nose.

Lot of neat old stickers and equipment. They just took off the NMW tow tabs so the lower grille could be put back in place.

Thats a great car and story but Im not buying the nose theory. I know of lots of special paint 69's and none of them had a differnt color nose. Id like to see the factory paperwork on that one. You could not get the chrome nose in 69 also. There is a burgundy ram iv with 5000 miles on it in selinsgrove..2 brothers own that car.

I wish that both events were held on different weekends or the same weekend together. That way I would be able to enjoy both. This "bickering" and spitefulness between the two groups is really a downer especially from car enthusiasts as dedicated and passionate as the people who put both events on.

First I did not start this thread for any other reason than to promote the GM Nationals @ Carlisle, our Vintage Certification Program & Solid Lifter Showroom.

The reasons for the ACA decision to move is outlined in the link below. To me there are no groups... If the Camaro Nationals and GM Nationals were on different dates I would participate in both.

I have a lot of good friends that went to the Camaro Nationals and others went to GM Nationals. If you read Karls explanation it appears he, Rick and their families just felt it was time due to the demands of the show and changes in priorities. When the ICC show ended Karl & Rick developed the ACA and a new Camaro Nationals. They have moved on and the MCC has stepped in and continued with it in Maryland. Both shows have moved forward and there is no need to speculate or turn this into a he said, she said. It's not an ideal situation but it is what it is. Like you I had heard many different stories, but the link below is the real story. Hopefully in the future one show will change their date.
