Re: 67 "Black Panther"

Thanks Jon,

Interesting to see Mark Donahue disqualified also in that article. I've heard rumors one of the Yenko '67 Z28's still exists. What have you heard?

Re: 67 "Black Panther"

I have just heard the rumors like you have but nothing more than that. Obviously, it would be great to find one of them.

Regarding that #7 '69 Camaro, that does seem to be the TODCO sponsored Camaro and I know Craig Fisher did drive for that team. I'm not sure if this is the same car that started out white during the '69 season or not. Is there any other information that can be supplied such as year photo was taken, racetrack location, etc? Thanks.

Re: 67 "Black Panther"

Hey Jon, do you have any information on 67 Camaros used in SCCA racing? Here's a post from a month ago that I was trying to get information on. Do you know of any 67 RS/SS cars that were used in competition in 67-71?
Jeff.

"I was just talking to Steve at MainStreet Motorsports because he's the one that imports the Minilite wheels from England and I'm getting a set for my car. He was telling me about a 67 RS/SS car he's thinking about buying that was built for TA racing, but went over to England in 71 and he can't trace down any US race history on the car. The car is an October 66 car with the 4P on the tag. Originally white with a blue interior but it also had silver paint with a single blue stripe. It's a complete ready to race car with full cage, crossram, cowl plenum setup, 4 wheel discs, staggered shock rear. He thinks it may have been driven by Tom Lynch. Does anyone recognize this car or know someone who might? He's been trying to verify the car for years and even Bob Fornier couldn't remember it. I told him I'd ask around."

Re: 67 "Black Panther"

Yes, I believe that's the same TODCO as they were out of Montreal. Fisher drove for them for awhile but who took over driving duties after Craig left, I don't know.

Jeff H,

Yes, I'm extrmemly familiar with the car you are inquiring about as I know the owner and have been working with him for years trying to figure out the past history of the car. So far, we have not had much luck. There does seem to be a connection to Jon Ward but he is extremely reluctant to talk about the car for reasons I would rather not get into on a public forum.

Thanks for the information Jon. I think Steve said he was going to buy the car with the hopes of being able to use it for vintage racing some day. Regardless of the history, it's a great car that is very unique and shows how they built cars for racing back then.

TODCO racing in mid'70s "St-Jacque street,MontrŠal".(upper Lachine road)
In mid'70s TODCO build a conversion project (240Z with 215 Buick Aluminium V-8).

And on the shop, Todco working on many rares cars(64 Galaxie R Code/Shelby 68 ect..)

I was often going to make turn at TODCO at that time.

I found a 67 Camaro road racer picture on my computer but don't remember where it was from but the picture looks like from the 60s.

Re: 67 "Black Panther"

That picture is from the Virginia International Raceway (VIR) website done by Nick England. The car was the one owned and driven by Tom Lynch. It is the sister car to the Dana Camaro driven by Dick Guldstrand. Both those cars (and two others) were built by Bob McDonald at Dana Chevrolet.
