Re: NEW ARRIVAL-69 NOVA L-78 4 speed with 7,000 mi
Is there black out around the interior side door window frames on this car? We are just finishing an Olympic Gold 69 Nova SS. It had black out. I would love to see a pic of that area. Thanks..BKH

Re: NEW ARRIVAL-69 NOVA L-78 4 speed with 7,000 mi
I would say paint it black. These are black up to the door seals and then Olympic Gold on the rest of the inside of the door frame. It is black between the seal and the window glass. No gold shows near the window its self. Hope this is clear enough to understand.
It is too dark to get a good pic today but if you really need some pic's, then e-mail me and I will take some for you tomorrow. |
Re: NEW ARRIVAL-69 NOVA L-78 4 speed with 7,000 mi
Thanks
I guess someone must have changed it at sometime or another. I was just sure that, that one was the original and the black one was off some other car. I see that is just the oposite so I learn something else new. I have a lot to learn about these cars. The trim on the LS just above the part in question is damaged and there is a very minor dent just to the outside the point of the fender so I was just too sure that it had been replaced. I guess perhaps it must be the original part. I feel that the front fenders are original to the car. Thanks for your help. Pantera |
Re: NEW ARRIVAL-69 NOVA L-78 4 speed with 7,000 mi
The 69 AIM does not have that page to check the bezel number. The part listed in the 69 Parts and accessories book is 3914759 (LH) and 3914760 (RH) for 68 only. Could the 8 be a 6?
That opening in the cowl side is not factory. I wonder why it was cut out? |

Pantera, nice find - good car. I wouldn't be too concerned about 'survivor' status, do a full frame off, and drive it like you stole it https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: NEW ARRIVAL-69 NOVA L-78 4 speed with 7,000 mi
After looking at your pictures, I tend to agree with Marlin on doing the frame off. You get into the, what do you change, and what do you try to save dilema.
The hole in the outer lobe of the firewall could be alot of things. It could have been a rust spot that they cut out to keep from spreading. They may have cut it out to get air in there for drying purposes, or they may have dropped something down the cowl, and just decided to hack it open to retrieve what they dropped. Some folks do crazy stuff. You might want to put on qtrs rather than scab on patches as I would think the outer wheelhouse may be rusted also. If you have rust under the tail light panel, you may need to replace that tail pan too. Overall she looks pretty nice. Those front frame mt bushings show me they were'nt kidding about the 7k miles.
