Tenney, Don't remember that one? How about Nathan's Hot Dogs! [/ QUOTE ] Yep. Pasquesi's on Bank Ln. in LF could get the job done, too, dog-wise. |
Re: Chicago area dealer cars
I know Pasquesi's too, but there weren't many Hot Rods or Muscle cars running around there LF, in my day.Don't know about the 60s-70s. I was one of the few. As far as HP & HW goes that was another story.
My older Cousin Enzo, ruled the streets with his '65 Satellite which had a 426 race Hemi, purchased at Mr. Norms. It was Tuned by the Funny Car team Nanini and Fontanini. He passed early in his life,as did Al Fontanini, but was instrumental in getting me hooked into this hobby on many levels. |

Enzo Bimbi drove a car tuned by Nanini & Fontanini. http://www.laclasse.free.fr/carotte/Mafia.gif

Re: Chicago area dealer cars
Found this in a stack of Newspapers I recently acquired.
It's especially interesting to me,because it is the ONLY time I have seen a dealership publically advertise the 1969 Chevrolet SuperSport Sweepstakes program, which offered Cars as well as CA$H prizes. The first time Chevrolet ever stooped to do that,as they really didn't like to give out CA$H Money. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6.../48tks0001.jpg |
Re: Chicago area dealer cars
Satellite sounds the bidness. Ray B's GTX and Demon probably make up my biggest Mopar/HW recollections. Clearing a table or two at the Del Rio would be another HW memory.
I was a pee wee in the Nanini and Fontanini era (Charger body?), but remember the legend. |
Re: Chicago area dealer cars
Lots of Mopars in HW. Bernardi was one of the "older" fast guys. That Demon ran a healthy 440 when I had my '69 Camaro. Sounds like we are close to the same time frame, what was your ride?
The Bertucci Brothers and a few of my other associates all worked for Bill at Del Rio. P.S. who are you and where did you live? |
Re: Chicago area dealer cars
Al Fontannini and Reno Nanini (Good Polish Boy's) ran a Injected Hemi Funny car.....as I remember they never went to a Blower set-up.....they ran the Midwest circuit.....I think Al was killed in a Highway incident same as Jungle Jim...

Re: Chicago area dealer cars
Ken,
Reno is a relative. Al was rear ended at the toll both on 41 on his way to the grove. The fuel was stored on the transporter. They were one of the first Funny Cars to run in the 7.00s or 8.00s? I believe. Reno's son still races and builds chassis. |
Re: Chicago area dealer cars
That's the same thing that happened to Jungle Jim....rear ended at a Toll Booth on the East Coast...Too Bad!!!!
