Thanks Ed. Dad is still hospitalized with deep vein thrombosis blood clots in both legs. It's a very rough situation.
It's going to be sad to see this car go. But it will indeed be going to a good home. Eventually it will be available for display to the public in a museum that the new owner will be building. |

Re: 1970 Olds 442 W-30, 18k miles, NO RESERVE
Hello everyone!
Fast forward five and a half years... Dad is doing well, albeit not very mobile these days. Since March 2007, the car has been with it's new owner. I even visited it last year. It's been very well kept and is in good hands. Unfortunately, February 2010 my uncle Bob passed away. (He was the original owner of the car, and custom ordered it back in 1970.) I am financially capable of purchasing the car back from the current owner. He has very graciously agreed to sell it back! I'm so excited. Almost emotional about it. Having that car back in the garage would be very meaningful now that uncle Bob has left us. The owner has requested that I submit a number. I really don't know what this car is worth in today's market. I want to pay a fair price. But I don't know that number. That is the reason for my posting. What do you guys think this car is worth in today's market? Is it worth more, or less, than back in March 2007? |
Re: 1970 Olds 442 W-30, 18k miles, NO RESERVE
Good to hear your Dad is doing better, sorry to hear about your Uncle. Just going by the dates, not the w-30 market (which I do not know), March 2007 was just before the peak (by about one year). So I would say that you sold the car near the peak and the market has still not recovered. Rough order of magnitude, your car is about 75% of what it used to be.

Re: 1970 Olds 442 W-30, 18k miles, NO RESERVE
The only problem with that is how do you ask the guy you sold your dream car to and family treasure to take a hit on it. The fair thing to do for both parties is to offer him his money back he paid even if its not worth that anymore..Its worth more to you than anybody on the planet.
