Re: Biscayne Resto Project
A Little Update..........The Biscayne had a 3.90 Posi and a Close Ratio Muncie in it .......Nice for Driving around town, but .....Not Practical for my kind Traveling.....So......After "Conferring" with Dr. Webster...It was decided that a 5 or 6 speed would require some Tunnel Surgery and I didn't want to do that.....So..We ordered a Richmond Super T-10 with a 2.88 First Gear, Hurst Shifter assy,New Clutch Disc (Fine Spline)and a 3.08 Ring and Pinion.......With the 2.88 and the 3.08 the ratio is about the same as the old combo, but....Now I can drive the car anywhere......there were some minor issues installing the shift gate to get it to come thru the floor in the correct spot, Back-up Light Switch Hardware that was different (Thanks Crash)...and had to get the Driveshft Shortened, and I also put the correct Shift Boot in while it was apart .......Here are some Pic's from the change over
Changeing the Clutch Disc....... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC09027.jpg Even though the trans "Bolted" in....It was about 3/4" longer than the Muncie and required shortening the Driveshaft http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC09028.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC09029.jpg Had to make a couple of Adaptor Plates to get the Shift gate in the Proper Place......Had to move it forward and down about a 1/2" in both directions http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC09034.jpg The T-10 has a different Sideplate so the Back-up light Switch mounting plate needed to be replaced with a later model GM unit... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC09053.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC09054.jpg Continued......... |

Re: Biscayne Resto Project
Had to make a Adaptor to get the Stock Shift Arm to mount to the Hurst Gate and to Fine Tune the Position of the Arm Relative to the Seat.....
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC09057.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC09060.jpg Intalled with the Correct Boot.........Now ....I can Actually Shift the car and don't have to worry about the shifter "Jamming" in the middle of Nowhere....(Roodhouse) http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC09062.jpg Drive Shaft installed after Shortening..... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC09055.jpg Just got a couple of little things to finish up.....Got the Correct 66 Radiator Spacer, and a Big Tank Harrison that I just picked up from the Radiator Shop, and a correct Fan Shroud.......I'll be putting those parts in later this Week........ Re: Biscayne Resto Project
When I ordered the 4 Core 427 replacement Radiator from U.S. Radiator, I assumed it would come as a " Factory Correct" unit........well......It was correct and worked very well except for one thing.....It came with "Small" tanks.....When I talked to U.S. about this.....they informed me that they didn't have any Tooling to produce the correct "Factory Big Tanks" and we went round and round about this Issue........Bottom line is they told me I had to find a "Old" Big Tank and they would use those Tanks and build me a New one.......I found one at the Jefferson Swap meet earlier in the year and was going to send it back to them for refurbishing........But...Instead I got hooked up with a Local Radiator Shop that was supposed to have a owner that "Get's It"..........Dropped it off and explained that I wanted a "Brand New" appearing recored Radiator assy........He called a week later and said it was finished........Lets just say that it was "Perfect" from a Functional point of view......Appearance......LOL......Spent 4 hours with paint remover getting the paint and runs removed so I could wire brush and Scotchbrite the Rust and Dirt that he just Painted over on the Side Frames......After cleaning and Repainting it turned out O.K........But......Why??......"And".....I got charged twice as much as U.S. wanted .........Live and Learn.....Don't people understand "Quality" anymore.....Anyhow....enough of the "Rant".......Here are some before and after Pic's.......I also replaced the Radiator Spacer with a 66 Unit.....the one that was in the car was a later model unit (67 up) that had a Embossed Rib in it.....and I now have the correct Fan Shroud that was put on at the same time.....Also changed the Speedo gear so the Speedometer reads correct after the Gear change......Done!!!
Before........Small Tank and Ribbed Spacer http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC06644.jpg After.........Big Tank and Correct Spacer http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC09949.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC09951.jpg Correct Fan Shroud........ http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC09950.jpg Done..........
