New scammer James Merritt
PM'd me about the BB brackets I am looking for. Just registered today and no posts, just PM's.

Mitch, have him send pictures of the bracket. Lets confirm he's a scammer. I googled and no flags....

This morning I received an unsolicited pm from rikibac593 wanting info about my blog platform. I don't do blogs.

Go there on the first page and scroll down theres a bunch of Saudi members that joined at beginning of this year that most likely are not legit. |
I clicked on a couple and there is a message in their white board and the statistics says the page has been visited over 1,000 TIMES ! WTH is going on with that ? Are they passing messages to others in their group thru this forum ?

I was talking with Steve about that yesterday with all the arab members that Mike referenced to. They had messages on the white board too. Yours looks like it's being translated into or from Japanese...
|
I also received the similar response that napa68 got. It was regarding the NOS mirror I am looking for. He apparently picked one up at Norwood and wants me to email him at at

Scammer question for Steve, when we send a PM to another member here can the scam guys get into- hack into the PM system and read our conversations? I’m not much of a computer guy and was just wondering about this.
|
Accomplished hackers can get into damn near anything they want, but I don't know that they would find reading our messages all that interesting or profitable...

Scammer
Paul when did he PM you I banned him 1/15 @ 9:30 am. He should not have the ability to PM once he's banned. Lmk when you receive the PM.
Thanks![/QUOTE It was the 15th at 8:30 AM |
Can these scammers not be stopped from joining up if there is an automatic membership charge?
|
Steve, thanks for being proactive on protecting the site and its members. The Merrit guy sent me a PM at 8:50am on 1/15 so it was before you banned him. By the time I read his PM the line under his user name said "Banned" which is great. Thank you again.

Sadly WTB posts anywhere online will bring out scammers. Best protection is ask for a reference and get the person on the phone.
The famous one on FB was LaShawn Harris. A bunch of us tried to track this account down and we got close, figured the person was in NC. |
