1969 camaro trim tag verification
1 Attachment(s)
Is this a fake trim tag?
Thanks in advance, Ray |
It does not match well with a real 04C tag.
Thanks William!
The rivets appear to be repro pieces.
Rivet centers are not punched??
This tag is on a RS, 327, power glide car. I’m not sure why someone would change the tag. The car isn’t cloned as a Z either. Who knows these though.
The oe tag may be missing. Color change is another reason.
What's the VIN? |
04C build date with a 327 ?? That seems way too late for a 327.
And, according to CRG, an X33 code is Z28 ?? I am NOT very knowledgeable on '69's, just reading on CRG about the info on the tag makes what you described confusing. |

The car is Orange with Black vinyl top with White standard interior. Mitch yes the X33 code is for a Z28. It’s a very decent driver type car. |
The VIN 9N531404 corresponds to a early Nov 1968 build date. This does not match the 04C (April 1969) build date on the Trim Tag.
Yes, November builds are pre-X code too to add to what Tinkerman said... Something doesn't match up for sure so I'd say cowl tag is the weak link
Definitely a reproduction cowl tag. :bs:
That VIN is found here…and the car with pictures.
