Check out the pilot for "Helmet"-produced by Bart Rome (47 Hammer)

Bart is a cool guy-I've known him for a long time-and he's been a member of this site since 2005 :)

A while back, Bart posted this request for muscle cars in the LA area...

https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthre...ight=Bart+Rome

And the end result is a sample from the "Helmet" pilot teaser

https://player.vimeo.com/video/760676623?h=fb8d07a6f5

Check it out-as it has some really cool muscle cars in it!

Cool stuff, Bart! Congrats....

Pro Stock John 01-14-2024 05:14 PM

Whoa very cool. At 1:52 is he driving on the opposite side of the road or it's mirror imaged?

47Hammer 01-14-2024 05:32 PM

Thanks, He's on the right side of the road.

BTW Thanks again for posting this Bruce. :BruceRocks:

Pro Stock John 01-14-2024 06:38 PM

Maybe the road has a split there lol.

Looks like a cool movie.

Charley Lillard 01-15-2024 04:23 PM

Pretty cool teaser. Good luck with it Bart.

Big Block Bill 01-15-2024 11:57 PM

I think you got something here Bart, very entertaining if you're a Muscle Car Guy. I hope it's a Home Run for you Bart. Bill

47Hammer 01-16-2024 01:45 AM

Thank you Bill, glad you liked it. We've been showing it most of last year in different film festivals all over the US. Most of our fellow film makers were amazed at how good it looks. I'm currently working on financing.

Side note, the Corvette was originally owned by a guy in my neighborhood when I was 13 years old. The kid that lived next door was a good friend of mine and 40 years later found the car and bought it. L-88 427-Great story.

SuperNovaSS 01-16-2024 04:23 AM

I hope the movie gets made. I was hooked by the trailer.

Sorry Jason, I need to up your request......you folks MUST get this movie made. The story line is really cool and I need to see more. It's perfect for all of us gear heads, if ya know what I mean.

One curious question.....what sort of funds does one need to complete a project of this quality?

Ok so, first of all, that looks like an awesome movie, but it's mentioned this is a pilot teaser.

Does that mean there is no movie yet, just that 20 minute trailer? Or is it a "teaser" of the whole completed movie?

When it was mentioned that you need financial backing, is it to finish the movie, or to get it released?

I ask because it seems like with the high quality story line, acting, and editing just in that trailer, the whole movie might be done already.

CamaroNOS 01-17-2024 02:07 AM

Damn, I hope you are correct FTC.

Same here Paul,...hope it just needs that final financial hurdle to get released.

When it was mentioned that "We've been showing it most of last year in different film festivals all over the US. Most of our fellow film makers were amazed at how good it looks".....the way that sounds is, they have been showing the movie, not a teaser.

Do they even just show trailers at film festivals?

47Hammer 01-17-2024 05:11 PM

Hey guys, thanks for your positive remarks regarding the "Helmet" teaser.

Yes they do show "Teasers" and short films at Film Festivals. This teaser, short film looked amazing on a big movie screen in Hollywood. Many film makers use their iPhone for the pitch but I wanted it to look like the real deal.

The intent is to have Helmet be an episodic cable TV show with unlimited content.

I'm in a position now after putting my crew together, Director, Cinematographer (filmed the Avatar series of films) and other incredibly talented people to start our own production company, that's what the funding is about. I'm not going to name drop here but would be happy to talk to anyone not in the business thinking about this opportunity. :beers:

P.S Thanks to Bruce for texting me about these questions.

That is a pretty good teaser.

I predict he gets the girl and then street races the 55 Chev and wins. If it was a 69 Camaro he'd have no chance.

Pro Stock John 01-17-2024 09:58 PM

Very cool look forward to you getting it all put together.

1967Z28 01-17-2024 11:47 PM

Serious question. Why does it start off with the statement "Long Beach Grand Prix 1977" and then cut right to an oval track Nascar type race? Neither Long Beach nor a Grand Prix. Are you not targeting car people with this movie project? No bad intent on my part and I think the production quality looks very good.

47Hammer 01-18-2024 01:11 AM

Jon, I thought the same thing in the beginning but the plan was always to bring the characters, dialogue, color and their situations to the forefront, and make it look great. Most if not all Studio Executives wouldn't catch that as many weren't born yet or hard core car people like everyone on this site. This teaser was to get the concept noticed and instead of spending $$$ on a race car crash we used it for the cinematographer.

When this is made into a TV series or movie everything will be 100% accurate with all the cars and trucks. Hope this makes sense, thanks for your comment.

DITTO!

Very cool and my wife also digs it.
It kinda reminds us of the Banshee TV Series of 2013.

PS, the music is also great.

47Hammer 01-20-2024 04:40 AM

Thanks, I loved Banshee. I like to have people think of Son's of Anarchy with Tow Trucks instead of Motorcycle gangs.

Back the late '70's our cars were just our "drivers" that all happened to be cool street machines, right?

Late BrakeU2 02-01-2024 01:10 AM

Been a member here for 20 years, don't get by as much as i used to. So..not only was i involved with production on this project, i was there wih Bart for the real deal back in the seventies. He's actually the guy who got me in to this line of work in high school, stiil at it 45 years later( now who's fault was that?) Seriously though i am so proud of him moving fwd on this after decades. It was a crazy biz back then, Rock and Roll, hot rods, racing on Mulholland, working car crashes, dealing with all types of folks, all in an L.A backdrop. This is a sanitized account rated P.G.. The stories are all true and endless, which is what you want for a successful series, material in spades. I look at some of these recent reality Tow Truck series that have done pretty well suprizingly, but are clearly limited audience themed. Helmet has the potential to not only be successful, but the legs to keep going based on real life characters( and boy were there some) It was kind of surreal being involved with this shoot forty years after the fact, because all the actors involved were named after the real people i worked with then. Anyway i have been an advocate of this story to be told for many years, and proud Bart jammed it in first then side stepped the clutch. It's going to be a hit i am confident of that. I didn't realize what a wild profession it was till much later in life,it was not your average nine to five which 90% of people experience and that's where i could easily see people gravitating to watch.. a great period view of L.A from a pro roaming the streets looking for action.

Ok, so is it me or does this trailer have a few scenes "not" shown in the longer pilot teaser that was linked in the first post of this thread? Like the stuff with the blue Vette and the yellow 55 Chevy.

So how much of the movie is made? Is it complete, but just the short teaser has been shown here and at those film festivals where it seems to have received lots of praise,....or is it still being filmed and produced?

You are correct, the teaser is a 19-minute short film I created and produced depicting the characters, situations, and times of this true-to-life story. The 2-minute trailer was made for the "elevator" pitch.

As of today, I'm talking with possible non-industry investors who like what they see and would like to talk about helping us and themselves move forward with the project.
