I think more people know about these 68 L-79's now. You dont walk by a rusty 68 nova now that has 327 emblems on it and go "its just a old nova". I start looking if it has a 12 bolt and signs of a 4 speed. They made 1274 of them so they are out there.

They may have made twelve hundred and seventy some, but I for sure parted one out..... A guy that worked where I worked had one that he rolled one icy Sunday morning. He came to work Monday and asked if anyone was interested in the junked car for $300 dollars and I said yes. The only good body parts were the rear bumper and the drivers side rear quarter window. I parted out the car, sold the engine, transmission and the rear end all seperately. I kept the rear bumper and the drum brake front subframe for a while, then sold the rear bumper and finally used the front subframe on a wrecked 74 Nova that I was rebuilding. The rest of the car went to the crusher, likely off to make more Toyotas. Rest in peace little L79 Nova.

Bruce I think you could anything you wanted except an automatic with a L-79. I seen a 68 L-79 chevelle with AC 3 speed on the floor it had the POP to prove it.

These little cars were true sleepers...they were plenty fast stock...but, you add a factory aluminum hi-rise, Holley, solid cam, some gears and tracton bars...and watch out. I think they are one of the neatest cars out there...lot's of BB guys got shut down by that little motor https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

I owned a one-owner, numbers-matching, documented example a few years ago. They are really neat cars and are such sleepers that it helped contribute to their extremely low survival numbers. To many people they are just 327 Novas. Mine was a red, black bucket seat, 4-speed, 3.55 12-bolt, no A/C example. I would have loved to make it into a Pure Stock racer.

Sully I have seen more 68 nova's pop up for sale in the last 6 months. Maybe they are in demand. But I think not.
From the pictures the car don't look that bad but pictures can hide a lot. The car is definetly worthy of a restoration but I think the reserve might be a litle high. Only time will tell! I wish the seller the best of luck with the auction. The only thing that has got me stumped is the motor was replaced after a couple of weeks. So does the car have a Ce replacement block? I was told it had the EP code on the engine pad so I am confused?

Re: Another 68 L79 Nova.?

Thanks for the interest guys. This is my car on ebay. Jason,
yes the car has a CE stamped block. The original short block was replaced within a couple of weeks of delivery according to the original owners. Jeff's site has it listed as having the original EP block which it does not have. I do have the protect-o-plate which clearly shows the EP suffix and the heavy duty 3 speed.

Please feel free to contact me if anyone has questions.

Thanks,
Mike

Man Sully is correct they are coming out of the wood work for sure!!!! I don't think Jeff has that one on his L79 registry either? Mike that makes sense now. I was talking to Jeff and he said he had the EP code of your motor on the web site. Didn't realize that was the code from the pop. Whish you luck in the auction.

I will correct the CE motor issue on the website, sorry if it caused any problems. Good luck with sale Mike.

I saw that car in person at the Barrie Flea Market, and it is rough.
If anyone is interested though, the guy only loves a few blocks from my house.

Could you get a 12 bolt in a non L79 '68? I got my rearend housing (12 bolt, non posi 3.23's if I remember right) from a '68 with 3 speed floor shifter. No engine, very rough. Jusrt curious if it could have been one. It may still be sitting up in the woods but, was likely junked last year when scrap prices were up.
