Ebay RS/Z28

$ 57,000 currently for a RS/Z28 with a fake trim tag, Ebay # 130319897295. When asked about the repro trim tag he said "its just the way he bought the car". Looks like someone is going to pay up for ??????

It looks like a pretty stand-up car to me. Why do you say the cowl tag is fake because of the X33 in November? Were you bidding on it? Edhttps://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif

Mark was pointing out that the car has a fake trim tag for the reason you point out (D80, X33)and others. The point is not whether HE was bidding on it, rather other may without realizing this fact. Whether the car is real can't be determined unless fully inspected, however the fact that someone replaced the tag puts up a big red flag. I don't care how many superchevy shows it has won there a big ? mark.

The owner pleading ignorance is no excuse, the owner should have modified the ad or ended the auction and relisted it.

If I were selling a car on ebay and thought I was a pretty knowledgable guy about my Camaros, I would not take the word of a tire kicker sending me an email. Maybe even if someone were to send this gentleman a link to this discussion he may not choose to except the word of all the experts here.
After reserve has been met he can not alter the description. He should cancel the auction, investigate the claim, and at least contact the person he bought the car from if were so recently. JMHO

Maybe he knew about the tag and just dosen't want to lose his shirt? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

From Ebay (the within 12 hour rule) If the seller's item has already received a bid/purchase or ends within 12 hours, the seller can only:
Add to the item description, add item pictures, or add a second category. (Exception: If the seller's listing already has a bid/purchase AND ends within 12 hours, the seller can't add to their description, add pictures, or add a second category.)

Cancel is the only option and the right thing to do.(JMHOA)

The sad part is that if that car isnt a Z28,and the resto is as clean as it looks{not 100% accurate but nice} the seller might loose money on the deal.Nice car for that price, fake or not.

Steve Shauger 07-28-2009 04:14 AM

Re: Ebay RS/Z28

First we don't know if the car is fake, just that the tag is. That being said the owner should pull the ad and pursue the seller he bought the car from.

Regarding the price I wouldn't spend 60K for a questionable Z in this market. Fake tag, no docs and no pics of stampings.

Another point is that this is a forum to expose questionable cars. I am not into nit picking this or that, however if the owner has been notified about the tag, he should at least verify the information provided. By doing so we may save him from a legal headache once the next owner becomes aware.

THIS AUCTION IS REAL AND IF WINNING BIDDER IS NOT TOTALLY DELIGHTED WITH THIS EXTREMELY RARE CAR THEY CAN WALK AWAY WITH NO OBLIGATION.

i hope the high bidder knows someone who will point out the tag.

Sold for $59k. Good luck to the new owner. Authenticity is only an issue if the new owner tries to flip the car. Otherwise, put some Cam 2 in it and https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

Ha! Authenticity is only an issue if a dealer is selling. This person knows they can't be held as an expert, and that's why they essentially pleaded ignorance.

Maybe sold to someone who could care less.

Same guy https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif was selling a 1969 JL8 Crossram last year on ebay with a "questionsable" tag too. Here's the thread:

1969 Z28 Crossram JL8 Black

Here is a photo of the Black JLB Z28 on the Sellers Feedback Page:

69dz4me Feedback Page

I know nothing about this seller and have no affiliation, but did notice that I am in the same state. From what I have read, I would have to say that this seller https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif evidentally, regularly deals in cars that are questionable and consistently markets them as authentic under the guise of a lack of knowledge that they are questionable and obviously looking for someone who's is even less knowledgable than he is. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif

It is a real shame that people have to pull crap like that. I'm sure glad you guys are here to help those of us that obviously have much less experience with these and much more to learn. I can only hope whoever the buyer is sees this thread. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ouguysrock.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

That is a major reason eBay stopped doing that.

This "Bucket of Tags" guy gets beaten up frequently on-line, and I've come to think that it's just sour grapes.

Seems to me that he was a forward-thinking, visionary businessperson that took one man's trash and made it many men's treasure(s), and at a very high profit margin.

Genius.

What a bonehead statement... insinuating that people look down on this fraudulent behavior out of jealousy. It's called integrity, buddy.

Perhaps you admire this guys antics because you are actively up to the same types of shenanigans yourself. Maybe like 'King Midas' you are fond of turning the crap you touch into gold.

Jerk. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

The guy obviously filled a bucket with crap and threw a dozen tags on top to make it appear it is full. On top of it they are all aged fake tags. Are you really that gullible?? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

Mr. Midas, if you feel that counterfeiting model/option tags is a stroke of genius then I think you may want to find another website. I know you are contrarian by nature but justifying this guy’s action is counter to what this site is about. You may want to take your act to a clone, tributes or reproduction website. Your coment is just https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bs.gif
