Re: KINNEY CHEVROLET
There was a Kinney Chevrolet in Riverhead NY. I bought a new vehicle there in 1985, I believe it closed about 5 years later. Not sure how long it had been there. ( the building looked like early 60's).

Re: KINNEY CHEVROLET
There was a Kinney Chevrolet not too far off Ocean Parkway - I believe its a small private school now.
Plenty of their stuff found its way to Fountain Ave & Cross Bay Blvd! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif |

Re: KINNEY CHEVROLET
The sign say's Brooklyn's largest chevy dealer.

Re: KINNEY CHEVROLET
Steve, the Kinney Chevrolet building was on Rt. 25 just west of 105. Was that O'keefe in the 60's ? I know a guy who worked at a Chevy dealer in Rvhd then, he owns the dealership by me now.

Re: KINNEY CHEVROLET
I think it's very possible that it's the same building. I don't know when O'Keefe closed, but the original owner of our 68 L72 Z24 Impala purchased it at O'Keefe in Dec. 1967. Window sticker/Invoice just says E. Main Street, Rt 25.

Re: KINNEY CHEVROLET
That's it. I'll see if any oldtimers were around in 68.

Re: KINNEY CHEVROLET
This ad is from the NY Times. Kinny does have ads from Bklyn in mid 60's, did'nt see any Kinny from Riverhead in the 60's. The paper does show an Okeefe Chev-Olds dealer on East Main st on rt 25 in 1965.

Re: KINNEY CHEVROLET
Mark, where do you come up with this stuff? I thought my mother was the only person saving old New York Times https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

Re: KINNEY CHEVROLET
My father had a paper route when he was a kid and saved an extra paper every day since 1943. He has them stacked so high in the house that he went for a week without seeing my mother one time. Just kidding.
The library has a database which you can view copies of the New York Times since 1851 which you can access from home. Very easy to use if your library has it. |
Re: KINNEY CHEVROLET
... Ok .. so i know this post was 5 years ago but it still comes up on Google ... so during my search i came across this site in my search for any additional information on this specific Kinney Chevrolet 1965 Chevelle Z-16 ...... 6565.
I'm in possession of this car as a 1 owner car with the racing history direct from not Ralph Landolfi but from the Builder and Driver at the time. The car appeared in 1965 Sept edition of Super Stocker Magazine with the driver and builder. The car has been passed to me to restore it and preserve its history. Ron |

Re: KINNEY CHEVROLET
Thanks .. heres a pic back in 1967 when it was put back to stock street trim. The 1 Owner had it stored for quote some time ... it needs a total restoration but he kept all the original parts and motor is still a std bore. I'm in process of gathering info as he feeds it to me ... the photo above was from Ralph Landolfi his race partner ... you can see the two featured in the Sept 1965 Super Stocker Magazine with tem pages of the car. Hes given my some very interesting history of the car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-scan0001.jpg

Re: KINNEY CHEVROLET
What was done to that car to cause it to be classified as B/FX rather than a stock class?
Verne |
Re: KINNEY CHEVROLET
I'm told it ran in the 11's in the 1/4 mile ... too fast for the stock class so it was classified as B/Factory Experimental .
