70 L-S5 SS EL Camino WIW

Hey Guys
I'm looking for some help here to try and place a value on this car.
It's a 70 SS 454 L-S5 El Camino, it has the numbers matching 454, M-22, 3:31 posi, PS, PDB, F-40, HD bat. front bumper guards, remote mirror, tach gauges, bench seat, non cowl induction, all tinted glass.
Fathom blue, white stripes, white vinyl top 5 original ss wheels, still has the origial tiger paw tire on spare. Original int, with exception of the seat cover being replaced in 88. Looks to have some touch up paint work so I can't determine how much is still original paint. The interior is near perfect condition for a car with 76K miles.
Not a scratch or dent in the bed it is in unbelievalbe condition. Car has no rust anywhere, and appears to have all original sheetmetal. Only changes under hood appear to be 1 heater hose and plug wires cap etc. Original upper and lower rad hoses, reverse lockout in place.
Original owner had the dealership install a Hurst shifter but the original muncie is with the car. 2 owner car with build sheet (LEEDS). Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Intact 70 LS5 Elco's are pretty hard to come by, unfortunately they don't have the draw of their A body cousins. Great color combo,no ZL2 or buckets even's that out.. Does the bed have any tarp snaps?

Pics would help, beyond that ask ten people you'll get ten different prices. I'll say if it's all there + paper in this price driven market mid/upper 20's.. only because you rarely see them unmolested like that. JMHO

There's a section on Caminos at www.chevelles.com. The guys there will have a good idea of what it's worth. Sure sounds like a nice one.

Re: 70 L-S5 SS EL Camino WIW

Is the buildsheet showing it originally had D-88 stripes applied to it during assembly?

Re: 70 L-S5 SS EL Camino WIW

Yes it does show D-88, any one want to help with posting pics?
Thanks

Cool..cause stripes were an extra paid order if it wasn't assembled w/C.Ind,which included them.
Most likely $20-30K today.
You can email me pics @ [email protected] if you like and I'll post.

Great find. I have always wanted either a '70 El Camino in a LS6 or LS5. Sounds like this one you have located has been well preserved. Based on what you have described I would say 25-29k based on todays market. Just my estimate.

Neat find.......I see it is a 2 owner car.....any history on the car as I see it was delivered via Spedding in Denver?

Bruce 10-20-2009 07:41 AM

Re: 70 L-S5 SS EL Camino WIW

The original owner bought the car in Denver, I believe he also lived there and sold it in 1988, to the second owner who then brought the car to AK. and stored it away.

Re: 70 L-S5 SS EL Camino WIW

I noticed that there is no smog pump and no provisions for the air tubes in the mainfolds. Is that correct?
I love the originality, I would clean and detail the car and leave it as is.

This hydra lifter LS-5 didn't get A.I.R.(SMOG)during 1970 production, only the solid lifter engines did.

Re: 70 L-S5 SS EL Camino WIW

Can i assume the fan is correct as being a four blade & no clutch ? My ls-5 auto is the same way , just thought mine had been replaced at some time .

Re: 70 L-S5 SS EL Camino WIW

Your's is correct.
Unless it was ordered with optional Air Conditioning,or a Heavy Duty radiator, the standard fan for the LS-5 was a 4 blade w/spacer & no viscus clutch either.
Transmission type had no bearing on the fan used.
