Landing RW 23 Charlotte

I took this yesterday as I was landing in CLT on the last leg of my three day trip. If you go 'Full Screen' and turn up the volume, you can see and hear what we hear. It appears I am left of centerline, but, remember, it is a large aircraft and the camera was on the left side of my windscreen so the nose was tracking right down the middle.

Regards,

Mark

That's awesome. I always wanted to know what pilots see since us passengers only get to see side to side through the windows.

Thanks for sharing,

Dave

Yes, I find myself at 'Oh Hell International' in Chicago all the time.

Here is one from a couple nights ago landing in Manchester, NH. It's just the last 500'

I'll try to get some more.

Very neat Mark, almost makes me wish I was still working at Goodyear Corporate Flight Ops.....ahhhh not really... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif
Have been on allot of test flights and trips over the years and those jump seat TO's and Ldg's were the best ( for a AC mech anyway)
These guys need to see a video of near minimum approach just as you break out.
Pro pilots are the best... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Nice videos Mark.

I wish I could have filmed the approach into Chicago's Midway tonight (SWA 737). What a wild ride. The weather was terrible. It was even worse flying into Cleveland a couple of hours later.

Keep the cool videos coming.

Phil Woj.

Have you landed at Midway lately?

We (US Airways) don't don't fly to Midway any longer. It is certainly an airport that requires all your attention. Those Southwest guys, like Phil, do a Hell of a job day in and day out.

There are other airports that keep us on our toes, such as, Burbank, Washington National, etc. It becomes, in my opinion, even more challenging at several places in Latin America. Along with language barriers, there are a lot of Cumulo'granite' clouds down there. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif It reminds me of the old pilot joke where the Captain looks over at the First Officer and asks, 'What's that mountain goat doing up in these clouds?'

Very cool video's guys. As was said already, I've always wondered how the view was out the cockpit window in a big plane. I'll bet Burbank can be tricky. There's only so much room before you run into Hollywood Way! Most will probably remember the Southwest jet that ran off the runway to pull into a gas station in March 2000! I just flew from Baltimore/BWI to Burbank/BUR and got home about 1 1/2 hour ago (can't sleep so I'm online). It's a beautiful view out the windows at night. I'm amazed at all the stars that get wiped out by ambient light. The night view out the front must be awesome. See if you can get some cool night shots. Oh... and how about sharing all the UFO video's I know you guys are hiding!

Re: Landing RW 23 Charlotte

I'm in Brasil at the moment and I flew here on TAM airlines. Each seat on my flight had a video monitor to watch films, or play games, etc. One of the options on the monitor is for the passengers to watch the nose mounted video. I never saw that before on a flight. I'm not sure what type of plane it was, but the stewardess told me the plane was only one month old.

Cool videos for sure !!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks!!

Re: Landing RW 23 Charlotte

Now you are going to make me go out and get a video camera and mount so I can show you some helo landings. A much different perspective I can assure you. We even land on runways once in awhile. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif As far as seeing a lot of stars when flying at night, throw on some Night Vision Goggles and you will be blown away by the number you see with a little electronic amplification. First time users can't shut up about the number of stars and falling stars they see.
