67 GTO Conv't. Survivor
My friend, Andy D., owns this GTO. I took it to Bloomington Gold last year for him after detailing and dialing it in. It's a very nice piece and I listed it on ebay for him yesterday. Extremely well documented 34,000 mile Convertible with the original top, sheetmetal, drivetrain, etc.

Re: 67 GTO Conv't. Survivor
Thanks guys. This GTO has been at my place for almost a year. I'm going to miss it when it leaves. If you're looking for a Survivor, this one is pretty tough to beat. Ed

Re: 67 GTO Conv't. Survivor
Ed,
VERY cool GTO. Love the color- and love seeing unrestored cars. I have a unrestored 67 convert also, was going to drive it to Bloomington last June but a family emergency came up and had to skip the show. Check it out: http://www.colinsclassicauto.com/detail.php?car=364 Fun to compare the details, like the original rear window codes, etc. Best of luck with the eBay sale. Colin |
Re: 67 GTO Conv't. Survivor
I see the "GM" square sticker on each of your doors (pass. side for blue goat and driver's side for green one). I did not know those were correct? When did they start/stop putting those on there and is that a Pontiac thing? I thot for Chev. that that sticker was only correct starting in '70?? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
I'd appreciate yr input https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif |
Re: 67 GTO Conv't. Survivor
Sam,
I don't have my book here, but, as I recall they were supposed to be on the passenger's side door only and are correct for 67 GTO's (and I suspect other Pontiacs?). Most guys put them on both, which is wrong to my recollection. Then again, it has been at least 5 years since I have restored a '67. I can't speak to the placement/ years used on Chebbies but am sure plenty of members here can chime in on that. You're a Mopar guy, think of it as GM's version of the Mopar "crown" on the passenger's fender https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Colin |
Re: 67 GTO Conv't. Survivor
Sam:
I went and looked at the GM Mark of Excellence tags in the doors. They are both the same color blue and they both look as though they have always been there. I don't believe that they were added. Also, as you pointed out, Chevrolet began using these as part of their commitment to quality. Thanks, Ed |
Re: 67 GTO Conv't. Survivor
Didn't Chevy start in 67 as well? I believe Corvettes started then.

Re: 67 GTO Conv't. Survivor
Thanks guys. Colin, one of my Mopars precedes the Mopar "crown" by a year or two https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif ? She'll be up at the Pavillions this weekend w/ a fresh tank of Sunoco 110 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif- howz bout the Comer/Cana Couple?

Re: 67 GTO Conv't. Survivor
I rang up Scott Tiemann to see what his opinion was on the GM decal- he said that to his knowledge it was passenger's door only, although everybody adds two when they repaint or restore. The GTOAA does not deduct for having it either way according to Scott. His other comment was that my blue car is the best original 67 he has seen and that was one of the things it confirmed- one GM decal. Of course, my opinion is that some cars may have got two, some one, and some none? It was GM in the 60's! At least their gas pedals don't stick https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif
Sam and Bruce- unfortunately I will not be at the Pavillions, I am racing at PIR this weekend and escaping to take Ms Cana to a non-paper plate dinner on Sat night. I was at PV last week and those mean rain drops must have scared you locals away! If you guys get bored this weekend, head over to PIR, good vintage race going on Sat and Sun. Free to get in, tell them you are on my crew- go to Gate 8. See Ya, Colin |
Re: 67 GTO Conv't. Survivor
My 67 SS427 Impala is original paint and there is one on both doors. Im pretty sure thats the way they all came.Like Colin said they probably just forgot to put one on his drivers door.

Re: 67 GTO Conv't. Survivor

Re: 67 GTO Conv't. Survivor
If anyone needs a tutorial on how to how to list an auction, that's it. Beautiful poncho, it's so refreshing to see a car of this originality make it this long without being fluffed under hood!

Re: 67 GTO Conv't. Survivor
I recall a thread on the PY forums years ago about the great door decal debate. I've owned two untouched, original paint 67's- both had just one on the passenger's door. Scott Tiemann, GTOAA judge and likely the sharpest Pontiac expert/restorer out there, also thinks just the passenger's door is correct. This is all like Charley's pet peeve "CAUTION FAN" decal thing, though...its just a decal! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif That being said, I think one is correct and I also think that there are no absolutes with these old cars. Kwhizz actually owns a survivor GTO with both stickers and 842 aluminum heads I think https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif
Bruce- the vintage race at PIR is both days, Sat and Sunday. Free to get in, just got back from there and it looks like a good turnout. Look for my black GT350 along with a blue mid-year Vette roadster and a yellow 66 Mustang race car (ex-Charley Lillard I might add) under a canopy along the front straight pit wall. I'll be racing as long as my new engine holds.... Colin |
Re: 67 GTO Conv't. Survivor
Thanks for all of the interest in my friend, Andy's, GTO. I think this car rises above the one or two door decal question. Heck, it's still has the original plug wires. Those are not reproductions. Thanks again, Ed

Re: 67 GTO Conv't. Survivor
Ed,
Looks like a stand up, top notch, unrestored car. Paperwork and a Survivor Award makes me confident in the car's originality. Those floors appear to be cherry to boot! Good luck with the sale! Dan |
Re: 67 GTO Conv't. Survivor
Ed,
Thats a very nice original '67 GTO, my '66 tripower is from the same dealer in PA. Colin's car is a very nice original too but can't be classified as untouched with the paint work its had. Is there a really such a thing as an untouched car?????? Mark |
Last Day on Ebay
Last day bump. Thanks SYC, Ed
|
Re: Last Day on Ebay
Ok, Charlie's '70 Z28 would qualify as untouched. It is certainly on of the few real untouched cars out there.

Re: Last Day on Ebay
Ed...great car! Good luck with the sale.
Mark...give it a rest, really! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
