Got Dusty Here Today

We had what I guess was our first major monsoon dust storm here in the Phoenix Metro area. Had a chance to take some pics before a very quick shower came through. Bruce, did you get "dusted"?

The view from my deck. Bruce lives over towards the left, but not in those houses you see in the distance.

Getting thicker, now you can barely see the foothills.

More dust whipping up in the distance. Never had a dust storm here where I live.

A storm was heading down from Lake Pleasant. We got a very quick shower here where I live, then it was done. This place intrigues me!

BTW, thanks for the storm warning Bruce.

Rick,
That's called welcome to Arizona.I seen pics where the sky is black with dust and it's a gritty type of dust so keep the garage door closed as much as you can.My brother lives in Peoria also and my folks in the Tucson area,so what do you guys out there do when dusting off your cars with out scratching your paint??

Not a problem on the storm warning Rick! During this time of year we monitor the weather web page pretty closely. You will get some awesome storm shots for sure (like your dust storm shots).

Yes, we got the dust...and a ton of wind...and maybe 4 rain drops...LOL

Rich, the best thing is to keep your car cover on your car in the garage...and seal up the garage as best you can. Dust will still get in the engine compartment anyways

That could be the same storm that came off the ocean by my house a couple of days ago and rained for about 15 minutes then went east. The lightning set off a few fires in the Riverside area that they are still fighting.

No dust storm yesterday in my neck of the Valley....around 10:30 last night it rained about 20 drops, had a few claps of thunder and a bunch of lightning, and that was it

Nothing where I was in South Phoenix either. Just looked bad. Typical monsoon season. Unnecessary humidity with little rain. Oh well. Beats the winter. I'm glad I'm back.

So you're here Tom? Not too terribly long and Pavillions will be back and rockin'!

Can't wait for that!

Yep, I'm finally here. While I can't say the weather has been pleasant, I do prefer it to the bitter cold and rain I've had to endure recently. As long as it drops below 107 and the humidity is low, I'm good to go. haha.

Looking forward to the Pavillions, and better yet, actually getting to work on my cars finally.

Welcome aboard Tom. Full time Phoenician? There are some hard core (usually retired) nuts who make the weekly sojourn to the Pavillions and bake their brains during the summer. You'll see most of the folks start to come back to the Pavillions in late September. C U 'round!

P.S. whereabouts do you hang your hat?

Yep, I'm back to full-time. I graduated from Chandler HS and ASU, so I consider this home. My family has now been here for over 21 years.

Currently located in the South Phoenix area. Near Baseline and 24th St.

Hope to see some of y'all one of these days. I'm currently stuck studying for this stupid test, so I haven't been able to really do anything since I've been back including work on my cars.

Although I shouldn't complain. I did get to see a sweet '69 Dick Harrell Camaro today while purchasing some new front seat belts for my Camaro. Never saw one of those while I was in NYC. haha.

Re: Got Dusty Here Today

Tom - do tell more on the DH Camaro! what "stupid" test are you studying for?

Tom, was it a green one by chance?

69Tom 07-20-2010 05:34 PM

Re: Got Dusty Here Today

Bruce, yes, it was a a green one.

Studying for the AZ Bar exam. I'm not enjoying myself. haha.

Re: Got Dusty Here Today

Was it identified as a DH or Nickey? Convertible?

Thanks and good luck with the Bar!

Re: Got Dusty Here Today

According to the owner, it's a DH. It definitely looks the part. Really nice car. Non-convertible.

Thanks. I'm gonna need it. Too little time to study.

Hey Rick, how's the car running out here in the heat? At least you have no salt to worry about. haha.

Runs good! While the garage was receiving a minor "makeover", I had to leave it outside, covered up of course. When I started it, carb was carrying on BIG TIME! Finally it stopped leaking gas and settled down, has been fine ever since! I think the choke is trying to get used to the climate change.

I saw the car in person a couple months ago, it looks better in person, it resides near Falcon Field. It's going to an auction in California soon, I think RS but don't quote me on that. If anyone is interested in it pm me and I can put you in contact with the owner.

Don't need it and it adds weight!
