Any MOPAR Max Wedge guys?

Any idea what a 1963 restored Dodge Polara 500 Max Wedge is worth?

Re: Any MOPAR Max Wedge guys?

Teeny market as in they didn't make many and even fewer survived. These cars don't come up for sale often either. You might contact Darrell Davis (retired Chrysler exec) who was very involved with Chrysler racing and has a tremendous database of info on Max Wedge and Race Hemi cars: shop# 407.701.4493

Good luck - let us know what you find out (or at least me: I have one of the 1st 10 Super Stock Plymouths - '62)

The car is a 1963 Dodge Polara 500 Max Wedge. It can be viewed t www.rk-motors.com. We can't come to terms on a deal so I won't get the car. I have spoken with the previous owner that restored it and it is everything as advertised, but is I believe way overpriced for today.

Looks like the underside could use some work, but it looks good otherwise with good docs. Tough to beat an Onyx Black 426 Super Stock Dodge!

Just curious. It sounds like you have an idea of what these are worth? What do you expect to pay for a documented, rare, high horse Super Stock Dodge in a good color? Did you check with Darrell Davis?

If you remember the "Best in Show" place from Ohio, that's the same place but with a new name and new location.

I am familiar with Best of Show and their new location. I have dealt with them and and Joe Carroll before. He is a honest good guy that accurately represents their cars. Relative to this car I have spoken with two previous owners, both who raced max Wedges in the early 60's. This car is the real deal and very rare. I just don't have the room for it without selling something and now is not the time to sell, particularly if you have something special with bulletproof documentation. I would buy the Max Wedge in a heartbeat if I could make room for it.

Norm, I have to respectfully disagree. 150K prices are long gone. I spoke with a collector friend who has an aluminum front end Max Wedge, and I confirmed his opinion with another long time collector. Their opinion is the car is worth 65-80K with 80K being all the money today. The Polara 500 was not even available with the aluminum front end which would raise the value. Gorgeous car though.

While he may be honest, the person who writes is ad copy is prone to puffery. Reminds me of a "car salesman" in the truest sense of the word.

Real Honest!! They changed their name & location.
I am sure his reason for this will be interesting & honest as ALL dealers would give ya. Didnt you know when they have a dealers license, it comes with a honest card!

The original location is still in Ohio. The name change is because Rob Kauffman is now the main owner and is a part owner of Waltrip's NASCAR team, hence the location of Charlotte and the Speedway. As I said before Joe Carroll is very honest and sells quality cars. Read the letters from many satisfied customers on the website.

I have to agree with Sam, this car is right in the ballpark $ wise. Add any successful race history and these cars jump into the mid 150K range.

The car does have a race history. If I can get a picture I will post the original stickers from the various drag strips of the day that are still on the rear windows.

After much more research I stand corrected. I have to agree with Norm and this car has race history.

Hey guys, I just want to add my two cents worth on Best of Show and Joe Carrol. I bought a hemi car from Joe and I can tell you he was honest and first class. I would not hesitate to deal with him again. Now he isn't giving away any of these cars but what I bought was rare, rare, rare.I felt I got a fair price for what I was getting. Of course I am not looking to dump this car after a couple of years. I really like what I bought and am going to keep it. Best regards to all.

I couldn't agree more. Joe Carroll is a great guy and sells awesome cars. I could not walk away from the Onyx Black 1963 Dodge Polara 500 Max Wedge. I bought it! Unbelievable restored, documented car. I also bought my Chevelle LS6 from Joe 4 years ago and have yet to see another one as original or well documented.

The car is awesome. It is better than that. I have gotten to know the gentleman that owned the car twice. He raced them back in the day. I bought Darrell Davis' 1963 Dodge 426 Ramcharger book. The car is listed in his registry and every number, date and part is correct. The car turned a moderate 12.60 back in 1999. I don't think I need to do that again. I love my Chevy's and the Judge, but this car is just different.
