very nice detail on the car - congrats.....
question - - are the rear brake drums paint usually done in the gray or the black or both? |
Re: 1969 x-77 Z/28 resto finished

Flat hoods rock! What is the assembly date? Norwood or Van Nuys?

Beautiful Z/28. Sad to say but there's a twin to this car sitting outside in my hometown to this very day Plates have been expired since 1986, owner won't even answer the door.

Beautiful restoration. I can't say that I've ever seen a LeMans Blue 69 Z with a black top and black stripes before. I really like that combination.

</div></div> Something mesmerizing about LB. Just a real pretty color. Eddie, like you, my 1st Camaro encounter was a LB SS/RS 396 I spied on a Cadillac dealer trade-in lot. I was about 17 (1978) and did not even know that much about what I was looking at, except I wanted it. It was ORIGINAL, one lady owner with all docs. It had white interior, auto, w/tape player as I remember. I remember it was $2200. Funny, I can't remember much at all it seems these days, but like the first kiss, you never forget, that Camaro is seared in my memory. Like you, Dad would have no part of it or any car I found. I ended up getting a ratty Marina Blue 67 SS Chevelle for $600. I sold it at 18 when I got my 1st Camaro, you guessed it, a LB SS L48 auto. It has(yea, still got it) a black top and white D90. special paint on TT. KurtS believes it was because it had the white D90 as the default w/blk.top would be black? Outstanding restoration BTW. |

Wow nice car. Lemans is one of my favorite colors in 69 too. Your resto looks very detailed.

Re: 1969 x-77 Z/28 resto finished
Great looking restoration. Looks like you've got hundreds of hours into her and she turned out wonderful.
Just curious, were vinyl tops considered a classy look back in the day? If so, how much extra would you have to pay for it? Interesting car, being X-77 sans spoiler, cowl hood, has std interior, and a black top. I like it! |
Re: 1969 x-77 Z/28 resto finished
Thanks guys for all the nice comments on the Z. Here are a few pictures as I found the car back in 2009. it had been sitting in the same barn/garage since about 1977-8 from what the owner told me? Sorry I cant seem to get the images to load any larger in size? To answer a few questions that have been asked about the car; Its a feb. norwood built car all matching #,s except trans. 63,000 original miles
Currently I have a 69 m/20 in the car but would like to find a m/21 for in it as that's what it was originally. If anyone has one to sell or a lead on one please let me know. Thanks, Brent |
