Re: 1969 Camaro Super Stock
Rather frustrating video to try to watch. If he just stepped back a few feet it would be much more informative.
What caused all the damage on the right side of the car? |
Re: 1969 Camaro Super Stock
At the :54 sec mark is also a shot of the Bill I. Super Paranoia 396 Camaro owned by Dave S.

Re: 1969 Camaro Super Stock
Thanks fir the tip Steve. The caption is actually a little incorrect. The car was a 350 horse which still did fall into SS/H with the 325 horse cars. Bill told me he had to travel to Reedman Chevrolet in Langhorne, PA to find a 396/350 hp stick to build into a SS/H. I specifically asked why he didn't want a COPO or build one..........he said and I quote "we didn't want to run Jenkins". Bill's engines were done by Duffy's.

Good advice about not running Jenkins!
BTW....Love your car! BIG |
Re: 1969 Camaro Super Stock
So am I correct that car is being offered with the right side still damaged? Are there copies of invoices from Harrell's shop included? Any hard evidence of this car being a COPO? I understand some of the COPO specific items are present, but has the original dealership paperwork surfaced?

Re: 1969 Camaro Super Stock
Not sure of the answers for any of the questions above, but couldn't he order the NCRS stuff for the Camaro?

THIS CAR IS NOT A COPO. MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN DOWN THE ROAD WITH THIS CAR AND ITS STORY. |
Re: 1969 Camaro Super Stock
The person that owned or owns, i believe is or was a member here. This car has been for sale for several yrs trying to convince anyone he can that it is a copo.

Re: 1969 Camaro Super Stock
According to Troy comment they put a ZL1 engine in the car back in the day.
What I can see, Macs Chevrolet had the ZL1 Camaro #22. So is tt possible that the other COPO parts came from ZL1 #22? |
Re: 1969 Camaro Super Stock
One of the previous owners of the car, while it was still located in Omaha Ne. liked to party a little bit and street race alot. Well, the two don't mix very well as the car was put into a telephone pole. Not a COPO, but from what I've been told it started life as a column shift 6 cylinder. I've spoken numerous times with the genlteman that originally campaigned the car who now resides in Council Bluffs, Ia.

Re: 1969 Camaro Super Stock
If it was originally a 6, wouldn't the vin tell you that?

Re: 1969 Camaro Super Stock
Well, we all know how stories get embellished and memories fade over 45 years. So I decided to give Charlie another call today. He says the car was originally white, not green. He also stated both camaros he raced had 427's. One being an iron block and the other an aluminum block(Zl1 #22). So, we are still no closer to verifying this car. All we know is that it was an original fathom green big block as shown by the trim tag at the 7:57 mark of the video. Just an FYI, when this car left for New Jersey in 2002, it had a trailer full of parts and the motor to my LS6 all for the sum of approximately $17k.

Thanks Pete.

Re: 1969 Camaro Super Stock
You can buy this wrecked and stripped SS396 shell with a grand story for $69k or the real Orange R/S COPO with airtight provenance for $75k.
If you are looking to make this guy an offer, consider this - after selling off the extras that came with it, he is into it for under 10K. What is a wrecked, stripped X-66 shell really worth ? Make sure you look at it in person, it is wrecked worse than his pictures show, also shine your light inside the fenders and see what emblems were filled. There is a reason us local guys haven't brought this car home... |
