Re: '67 Z-28 on eBay - Gorries Canada
So there were no Z28 emblems in 67?
|
Re: '67 Z-28 on eBay - Gorries Canada
Nope and early 68 did not have Z emblems. Only 302 on the fenders. Roughly March was the start of the Z emblem..

Z28 was just an identifier for an option group just like Z27 was the option identifier for Super Sport Z22 was for Rally Sport |
Re: '67 Z-28 on eBay - Gorries Canada
The car was restored in the late 90's locally. NOM. I'd have to find my notes to comment on the tranny and rear. I love the car and made an offer on it a few months ago, but it was rejected. It was on eBay about 18 months ago at another dealer for $79k...it has been for sale ever since at 2 different dealers. Asking was as high as $109k during that period. It is interesting that the current dealer claims that they do not have the MacNiesh report...just the certificate.

Re: '67 Z-28 on eBay - Gorries Canada
I do realize that it was basically and "Identifier" or RPO ... I was just curious as to why 67 did not have a call out badge. Then you see it on a 68, 69 and up

Re: '67 Z-28 on eBay - Gorries Canada
It is on the RK Motors web site listed for 89K with a bottom line of 87 and it says it comes with the Macneish documents

Re: '67 Z-28 on eBay - Gorries Canada
I spoke to RK's sales manager when I made the offer and they only have the cert.

Re: '67 Z-28 on eBay - Gorries Canada
Is this the Z Paul McGuire bought new? If so he later wound up with a Bolero Red Z. That Z was on the same transporter as his white one when purchased new. He kept both Camaros for several years. I remember both going through BJ auction together.

Re: '67 Z-28 on eBay - Gorries Canada
I remember that auction. They were trying to keep the z's together with the first buyer at b/j

No, Paul's Z had a white deluxe interior and came out of Indian River Chevrolet in Cocoa, Florida. |
Re: '67 Z-28 on eBay - Gorries Canada
From the description....
"utilized high flow, rectangular port heads" I'm not familiar with this description for small blocks...only big block motors...were the heads something special?? wilma |
Re: '67 Z-28 on eBay - Gorries Canada
I just realized I did not read the Z on Ebay had been delivered to Canada or I would have known it was not Paul's former Z. I knew it had Deluxe interior but I couldn't remember the color. I still have the Super Chevy issue that featured the white Z and the red Z. Cool story and history on those cars. That would have been hard to part with the pair.

Good info Mark and please advise if not 7N232796 also best of luck if still trying for the car. Is anything known of this car's past life and/or any possible appearances at S. Ontario events back in the day...Mosport etc? Also, is the # of '67 Z-28's that went through Gorries' dealer code known also the same of Golden Mile, Belmont, B&A or other S. Ontario dealers...MO Carter, Central Chev, Don Howson etc? Cool stuff! ~ Pete |

The heads are 270's with big valves. 202/160s. </div></div> Every Z28 ad in the future will likely contain this statement as dealers and auction houses only copy and paste information when doing a new ad. Take for example 1971 Olds 442 W30 Converts with A/C. everyone coming up for sale states 1 of 10 with A/c because someone made that erroneous claim 5 years ago. There were in fact in excess of 20 that I have in a datebase of known cars. Each time Mecum runs an auction with this claim I write to them to correct their copy, but they Ignore it. What is the favourite Camaro Z28 false claim? |
Re: '67 Z-28 on eBay - Gorries Canada
Thanks...I actually have a big head...but small valves

Re: '67 Z-28 on eBay - Gorries Canada
Nice car.
My only concern is, did the car get restored in Ontario? If so, who did the resto? You may want to have those questions answered before you lay down your money. I also STRONGLY suggest to get the full story on the car, you buy the M.T.O. (Ministry of Transportation) sellers kit for $20 to document the history. Paul |
