Cool.
The pics of the pics are out of focus. Try scanning those pics or try with a better camera / operator.

Is the 69 Lemans Blue with black vinyl top? Mine is an old race car that was originally Lemans Blue black vinyl top. Sold out of Colonial but I have very little history on it and don't know if the stripes should be black or white.
Could you give more information on the 69?
Thanks, Jamie

Jamie have you seen this stripe color table from CRG?

Re: ys 8030 1974 photos never seen before!

Yes I have. I was referring to the Yenko Stripes. I would think that Lemans Blue would normally be a white stripe but since my car has the black hat could possibly have been black stripes???
Also my car was sold out of Colonial so the car in the photo being in Florida and not too many LB with black vinyl top Yenko Camaros out there......I thought you never know. Could it be???
Thanks for any input, Jamie

Re: ys 8030 1974 photos never seen before!

Hi supercomp 8.90,

Would it be possible for you to ask this mid 70's owner of this car if he remembers what Chevrolet dealer YS 8030 was purchased from? Did he remember seeing any paper work with the car?

The reason I ask is that YS 8030 was one of those six cars that was confused with the 1967 Yenko information when they were transcribed from the original records. YS 8030 is on the same line as a 1967 Camaro 7N241523, Bolero RED, and sold at Indian River Chevrolet. I can't help but to think that ALL this information on this line might have belonged to the 67, and Bolero red was a 67 color. This makes me think that the dealer information (Indian River) went with this 67 also.

I saw that the owner was in Sarasota. I thought he might shed some light on the subject! YS 8030 could have been from Indian River also, BUT, it was not written in stone, and the actual dealer might be unknown. The dealer for YS 8030 is not on the newer 1968 Yenko registry list.

Thank you for any information that you may have, or get.

Thanks,
Bryan

Somethings a miss.. This car is Ash Gold and doesn't "appear" to be repainted.. Also shows it being unconverted and known. The most up to date list even that still has it listed as R-2.. So something isn't adding up yet.

Yup - sorry about that, was browsing multiple threads at the time and got mixed up with a Lemans Blue Z/28 discussion.

Too funny, I was at Mike Thompson's shop last week buying some race gas and he was telling me about owning a Yenko for a while when I was looking at the pictures on his wall. Small Yenko world.

Re: ys 8030 1974 photos never seen before!

I was thinking that I'd add the old pictures of YS8030 to our registry. However, it's probably best to hold off to avoid the possibility of any additional confusion on this car.

At first I thought the Yenko Inventory Sheet had a notation about stripe color by your car - but it doesn't, only that it came with the gauge set...

supercomp 8.90,

Thank you for checking on the dealer. I went back and checked the Info on the 67 Yenko on the same line of the 68 registry with 8030. This 67 was YS 743, probably Bolero Red, and confirmed VIN of 7N241523, and sold at Branine in Kansas. Thank You for your efforts. We all would love to see any docs on this car if any appear.

Thanks,
Bryan

Yenko NO. 8030

My partner and I bought 8030 from a kid in Sarasota around 1995. It was basically in boxes. We restored it (he did all the work) to flawless condition. All parts were NOS. All casting numbers matched. We sold it to a dealer in Mississippi, I don't know what happened after that.

As stated, I was at Mike Thompson's shop a few months ago discussing an engine build. I used to work with his wife; good guy. Another guy I met online who lives in Naples part-time is Joseph Mason, who raced a Motion Camaro and his brother raced a Motion '67 Chevelle that being redone now, and I think Bill Barnett, the former mayor of Naples, raced a yet different Yenko I think as well. Crazy they're all here in my little town.

Charley Lillard 11-15-2020 02:58 PM

I owned 8030 for awhile. Not sure who has it now.
