What an amazing collection of history also great taste in cars! Not worth anywhere near what most of the others are but I really like that '65 L78 Biscayne! ~ Pete |
Re: Fuzzy's collection up for sale
I like that the collection isn't only Camaros and Corvettes. I realize the severity of the comment as I own both, but refreshing to see such diversity! I had the pleasure of seeing a few of the cars at the York US 30 show summer 2015. Amazing quality!

Re: Fuzzy's collection up for sale
I got to see Bud run the Hemi Honker, the last time, at our York US 30 race. He ran it hard. Overreved the engine and the rear window trim flew off part way down the track. It had run just down the road at Cramer 522 Dragway in the 60's. I had the honer of chauffering Bud at the track several times. He and his wife were always great to talk to. Also saw the Nazy Crate run there after it was restored, before it was sold

Exactly, it's nice to see a collector that has not focused on one specific brand. I could easily be talked into one of those Cobra Jet cars...just saying. |
Re: Fuzzy's collection up for sale
Holy crap he has some nice cars. If I won the lottery and was told I could buy just one of his cars I'd have a hard time picking just one.

Re: Fuzzy's collection up for sale
The black Z11 and Hemi Dart is bad azz.
|
Re: Fuzzy's collection up for sale
The black Z-11 was the first real Z-ll ever restored. That was back in 1983. It still has its original engine and aluminum. One of only three I believe with that claim.

Verne </div></div> True, but Randy D. did some outstanding work on the others! |
Re: Fuzzy's collection up for sale
Questions on the Z11's,
The Strickler/Jenkins car is the first one ? Has a 3 speed where the others have 4 speeds.... Availability or gear ratio preference ? Also it shows the Aluminium inners in raw natural aluminium. The others have Black inners with limited info if steel or not ..... I'm aware that the aluminium cars were mostly changed over to steel early in the Sanctioning bodies Class designations when fairly new. How many real complete aluminium cars and or Front ends are known to exist ? 2 Local Z11 cars were raced here in Pittsburgh, PID mostly, Presque Isle , Erie, Thompson and Quaker City. One supposedly Bought New by a Tedesco racing family member.(PITTSBURGH Raceway Park Owners) I don't know the #, if anyone even knows ? Supposedly the car has been found minus OEM Engine & Aluminium. Any clarification from one in the know ??? If anyone noticed, most of these cars out of Don's Collection are from Western/Central Pa. Or Mid Atlantic Regions.....this was intended, as his preferred choice for Cars he Associated With.... Just throwing this out for all knowing something, anything to comment. |

Re: Fuzzy's collection up for sale
In regards to the Z-11's there is an interesting thread over at the 348-409 site about current status of them - a guess an informal registry of sorts.

Standard rear was a 4.11 but they got changed out often, many times right at the track since they were a drop out pumpkin 3rd member. Jenkins installed a 3-spd Hurst Syncho-Lok 3-spd shifter on the 4-spd for safer power shifting, with an added lever for reverse. The aluminum inner fenders are left overs from a '62 aluminum car. They didn't come on the Z-11s. Several aluminum parts were sold over the counter, so it's not known how many total front ends there were. I don't have info on the Tedesco car. There a couple people who have collected most of the history of these cars, so one of them may know. I know that all 50 of them have been accounted for in some form or another. I performed a thorough inspection of the Terry Prince car and the Frank Sanders car for their owner at the time (not Don) and they were subsequently re-restored to correct many mistakes. The Frank Sanders car is one of the highest quality ones in existence because it was never cut up for other class racing and it retains it's original engine and aluminum. Verne |
Re: Fuzzy's collection up for sale
I notice that neither of Don's Yenko Deuce Novas are included in the auction listing...

Re: Fuzzy's collection up for sale
Back in the late 1990's at Fall Carlisle, a very real pair of Z11 front fenders showed up on the top of the north field. They were really banged up. I believe the guy wanted 3K for the pair at the time. They were red and still had lettering on them.

Word I heard a couple of months back was that part of the collection got sold to someone in Ohio. These are what remains. |
