Barrett-Jackson Family day Sunday Scottsdale 1 14 2018

Lynn, Holly and I went to family day at Barrett-Jackson today. The show ran from 8am to 3pm as they were also preparing for the Barrett-Jackson Gala which is happening tonight from 7pm to 10pm.

There are still cars coming in and being unloaded for the auction and there was a good crowd of people there today as well. Like every year-there is a ton of variety at this event...definitely something for everyone. Whether you like Ferrari's or Formula 400's-it's here!

Enjoy the first group of pics. There include some of the vendor display cars....the first shot is from the Ford display which greets you as you first walk in-where you can race someone on the stage, then there is vendor who is selling custom paints, to a vendor who is selling modified muscle and finally part of the Chevrolet display set up like a Hot Wheels package!

This group of shots is a small sampling of some of the "Salon cars" as you progress into the main tent.

First up is a Talbot-Lago T-26 Grand Sport Saoutchik coupe, then a 1966 Aston Martin DB5, next to a 1952 Ferrari 212 Europa, followed by a 1968 Corvette L88, then a hugger Orange 1969 ZL-1 Camaro (#59), followed by the last known Hemi Cuda...followed by an unrestored black Hemi Challenger-next to a 1966 Shelby GT350R, next to a 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder which was next to the 1966 Shelby GT350 prototype #001

Amazing, just amazing!

Mark Young has a few cars in the main tent, two of which are shown here...both BRIGHT yellow. The Hemi Roadrunner should look familiar-as it was owned previously by Sizzler Wayne...one of the Pavilions regulars. There's also a Canadian Documented red L79 Nova, which is followd by a 1954 Buick Super Custom convertible with an LS engine, then two more 442s and a 1969 GTO Judge!

George Lyons brought a few really cool cars including the first retail sold GNX #3 (#1 and # 2 are in museums). This was also the magazine test car as well. He also brought a recreation of the Rod & Custom Nomad cover car.

The pictures following George's cars are a Nickey Camaro, an RS Camaro with COPO equipment, the 1954 Plymouth Belmont concept car and lastly an RS/SS 396 Camaro convertible cruising outside!

That's all for today

Really enjoyed the show even though I couldn't make it. Thanks Bruce.

Thanks Bruce, brings back memories. I don't live far from Highland Springs, Va. Back in the sixties Hechler Chevrolet was known for selling a lot of hipo cars, in 1969 the word got out that they had that 69 orange COPO car in their show room. Me and some buddies when to Hechler (driving my 66 L-79 Nova) and I remember well that car setting in the showroom when it was brand new.

COPO 01-16-2018 03:25 AM

As always awesome pictures Bruce. Thanks for taking the time to post for those of us who can't attend. Some great cars as always.

Was there Saturday and Sunday. Absolutely amazing experience both days. Anyone else see that little kid bounce a corner pole of the chrome bumper of a 50s buick? If you bring your kids to these things, you gotta watch them. Not the kids fault, but the parents. Also, the line up of the '64 and '65 GTOs and that '62 409 Bel Air was incredible. I liked how it looked like they were "the bad kids in detention" away from everyone else.
