Hats off to the guys that pulled together to put on the best mixed model "show within a show" in the world. Brian and Joe really did it again with an outstanding line up of ultra rare cars.

Participants included Grady, Rick, Mike, Al, Jim, Chick, Tim, and others. GM Baltimore retiree Richard Doyle did a magnificent job presenting in his Chevelle Assembly Seminars and we were joined by Dru Harden of MCR and Matt Avery who has competed his fantastic COPO book.

Unexpected was the Late Saturday announcement that Mark Hassett's 1971 BM 454 Phase 3 Camaro was being inducted into the HVA "this car matters" recognition roster. Notably for Brian's show- this will be the second car selected for such an honor from Brian's show display. Utterly just outstanding Brian, question is-who will be next?

The first car so honored was Camaro #1 which went all the way to the cube and veneration at Woodward in 2016. Is the Baldwin Motion picked this weekend destined for Times Square?, only time will tell but this would be great news for our hobby.

Mark’s car is now eligible for the HVA register. Here is a shot from the HVA photo Shoot after the car was awarded the national historic vehicle award (formerly “this car matters”)

I thought HVA meant High Value Asset.

Great looking car but why is the person in the drivers seat acting like he's mad?

mockingbird812 06-29-2018 12:08 AM

That’s not a “mad” look but rather a “you got the kahonas to go toe-to-toe with my beast?”

cook_dw 06-29-2018 12:28 AM

Oh so that's Mark in the driver's seat..??.. :confused2:

Exactly. The HVA photographer was not only capturing the car in images but the "feel" of the car.

Specifically the feel of the seriousness when you have a car that will run low 11 second quarter mile times with an old fashioned live axle where driver skill is 100% responsible for traction control and where the driver and only the driver functions as the singular on board computer for the car.

Kids and future generations today will likely not experience driving a car like this so the photographer was looking for exactly the right look at the right time to convey the vibe.

Here the HVA photographer is using a specific camera to get special effect imagery for the shoot.

Man, that car is the ultimate 70's hot rod.

That is one bad Mother.... When I was growing up there was a red 71 Motion Camaro terrorizing the neighborhood, That camaro was one nasty sounding beast, Big lumpy cam with Solid lifters clacking away and the hooker header side pipes. my love of Gen-2 Camaro's came from that car. I wonder how many of these animals Joel built?
