'69 Yenko Camaro

Nice car...dare I say "affordable" (by Yenko Camaro standards) at $250k. I have to say, though, I'd probably pick a seller with better feedback if I were selling a quarter-million-dollar car.

ad says it's one of the X-66 first batch of 50 cars. Did the first cars go to Douglas?

OK, I spoke to Jack Douglas last night. He told me he only got one truck load of the first batch of 50 Yenko Camaros early on. The rest were delivered to him directly from GM factory and his dealership did the conversion and paid Don Yenko 350 for the stripes. He did say there is a chance there may have been a car here or a car there that came from Yenkos dealership after the first full truck load he received early on.

Now according to the Yenko Inventory sheets Jack Douglas Chevrolet got 5 Yenko Camaros from the first batch that were delivered to Don Yenkos dealership. Below are the 5 cars.
578878 Fathom Green
578804 Daytona Yellow
578989 Olympic Gold
579568 Rally Green
579586 Rally Green

So If the truck load in the photos have these colors on it then I am willing to say with out a doubt the truck was on its way to Jack Douglas Chevrolet. and the cars listed above are for sure the cars in the photo. Two of the camaros have Black stripes on them the others are white. the Daytona Yellow car has black stripes for sure. Need to figure out what color the other car with black stripes is? Any one know of the other 4 cars besides my Fathom Green car?

I don't believe those are five camaros. the top rear car is a nova.

There's 6x cars on the transport...5x Camaros and 1x Nova.
Please note, I'm only connecting dots and can't say for sure if this pic is the load heading to Jack Douglass w/ subject car front/center or not?:hmmm:

I see now.. thank you.

----I'm fairly sure that this Yenko is George W's car. He discovered it, restored it, and I believe that, way back then, it didn't have the stripes on it when he found it. Maybe to disguise what one of the former owners wanted to street race?...….Bill S

Cool info Bill but all I know is a Member here owned it 10 years ago and still may?
I just cruised the listing pics again and when you add it all up, this car really has a lot going for it!

Bill - I was thinking the same thing - but it looks like George's old car was 649313?

Yes, LZDICK is the Member I was referring to but unsure if he's the current owner/seller?
Such a cool car and history, surprising more info isn't included in the ad?

Question ? Being an X-66 car should it be a short spoiler ?

I met Rich (LZDICK) at the GM Natl's in Carlisle between 2004 thru 2007, I believe the car in question was parked next to me.

The red SS was Jeff Boone's car we Vintage Certified at GM Nationals 2006 ish. low teens mileage fantastic L78. I know Joe Demesy bought it from Jeff but don't know the current owner.

Steve Shauger 08-13-2018 01:15 AM

Oops I see Jeff already posted.

camarojoe 08-13-2018 02:47 AM

Agreed

First time I can recall looking at an RS/SS L78 in Garnet Red with Black stripe and steel wheels w/ caps. Looks strong, but also quite sinister in that color.

Very nice Jeff.

Yes, this is LZDICK's Yenko Camaro and last I spoke to him, he still owns it. Nice Yenko, not original engine. Canonsburg delivered Yenko sold at Jack Douglass Cheverolet. 649313 was restored by SCW and was one of the Jack Douglass direct order cars and is original drivetrain.
