there should be a number on the stick where it slips into shifter body, they can be a pain to get out sometimes tho

Most likely the same as this one I have for sale here

Looks like a '70s Trans Am OE shifter body with a bench seat stick from something else jammed down in it. Possibly '77 by the date code.

Thats bench seat shifter for 70-72 GTO. Handle was also used on the Yenko Deuces

dvss1 10-09-2018 02:19 AM

If you pull the handle, 4177 should be stamped at the bottom.

marxjunk 10-09-2018 02:37 AM

not 70-72 GTO....they are diff..way diff, and unique, and they fit all seat combos in 70-72

67-69 GTO/lemans/tempest bench seat

actually a 67 according to the date

marxjunk 10-09-2018 02:47 AM

this is a 70-72

Thanks guys. I will try and get the stick out and see what number is on it, and research the number on the shifter to confirm date code. I agree with Marxjunk, probably a 67 GTO going on what I know of its past.

How do you get the stick out of one of these?

I slide a thin object down the lh side (driver)of the handle. Last time I used a pairing knife out of the kitchen drawer ( wife not too happy, but what can I say?). Try to go straight down the middle of that lh slot between the handle and thin stainless piece. You may want to use a lubricant (WD-40 or ?) & you may have to wiggle the blade or feeler or whatever you use back and forth. The blade will only go about 3/4 in. down and stop. Turn the shifter over upside down or to where you can take a long punch and strike the bottom of the shifter handle driving it out the top. A vice is handy also.

OK. I've got a shifter that is similar to that and couldn't figure out how to get it out.

iluv69s 10-09-2018 02:26 PM

I use a feeler guage to pull handles out

Me too

You take a feeler Gage and push it down between the handle and shifter till it releases it

YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY 10-10-2018 03:24 PM

I use a pair of starter shims to remove the handle. It does look like a 4177 arm, which is indeed a Lemans / GTO arm - only for bench seats though.... While I've seen plenty of 4177 arms for sale over the last few years for very high prices, I don't know of any that have actually sold for those prices - I'm pretty sure us Deuce guys have bought/stashed/installed 4177's into the majority of Deuces that needed them! We've been buying 4177's on the sly and on the cheap since '96 or so :D

marxjunk 10-10-2018 10:39 PM

i steal them every time i can..most have no idea what they are..i love the whole romance about bench seat 4 speed cars...i prob have a half dozen sitting around all the time..

people that put them on ebay are kinda hoping someone just has to have one..

last 3 i sold where in the 250+ area with no rods or levers...i have sold a couple for 450 but they looked near NOS with almost perfect chrome..truth is, they are worth more to Pontiac guys than Duece owners..(my opinion) ive never sold one to a Nova guy..the 68-9 GTO guys are always looking for one it seems..never had a prob selling any ive offered...

YENKO DEUCE REGISTRY 10-16-2018 07:21 PM

You are probably correct in that the Pontiac guys want them more now, most of the Deuces that want one - have one by now....

firstgenaddict 10-22-2018 01:52 PM

I use 2 lengths of 1-1/2" wide wide steel banding/strapping one down each side of the handle and pull straight out.
