Lemans Blue Yenko Chevelle
In 1975 I didn't act on the opportunity to buy a LB 4 speed Yenko Chevelle that was was sold new by Friedley Olds here in Cedar Falls Iowa. It remained in the area for at least another five years, does anyone know where it is today?? I do not know the VIN.
Also, one of the Friedley Yenko Camaros is still in the area, any others known? Just curious. Thanks!! Bill W |
According to the 69 Chevelle Registry the Le Mans Blue car is known but I have no idea where it is located, but I'm sure many others do.
The Fathom Green and Le Mans Blue Friedley sold 69 Yenko Camaro's are both within 20 miles of Cedar Falls to this day. |

I am familiar with the LB Camaro although I haven't spoken with the owner for a while. I wasn't aware of the FG car. Thanks for the info!! |

Here's a link with a little info about the Fathom Green car Bill.

The LB Chevelle was Tom Billigen's old car. My notes show that it was bought new by a Gary Birch of Washlum, IA.

Thanks to everyone for your responses!! Searches showed that the Chevelle was sold to NY, so it could be anywhere by now.
The FG Camaro I have no memory of, but with his and my drag race involvement in the late '60s and the '70s I'm sure we crossed paths at the local tracks. I did barely miss buying a FG COPO (with Super Stock racer intentions) from a local used car dealer, but that's another story. Thanks again! - Bill Wente |
Was thinking there was also a DY Chevelle sold from there. Believe the juries still out on what exactly happened to it.

I'd probably be searching the local dirt tracks...

Good possibility . There's more stories about the fate of that car than you have space for here.

One year later, more on this thread.
Last Thursday I was in line at a funeral visitation, talking cars with a friend who was in line in front of me. The gentleman behind me joins in and states that he was the original owner of the white Friedley sold Yenko Chevelle!! I didn't get much more info, but we agreed to talk later. Also, Harold Freidley, the previous owner of Freidley Olds/GMC who sold the Yenko cars locally, passed away two weeks ago at age 92. I have been told that Freidley sold one Yenko Nova? Any truth to that?? Bill W |
The Dover White Chevelle is owned by Reggie Jackson. It was at Mecum Indy in 2018 with a number of other cars from his collection but didn't sell. It was owned by Carl Dwiggins back in the 80's.
The LeMans Blue Chevelle was owned by Tom Billigen. I saw it at the Super Chevy Show in Joliet in 2001 and at the Super Chevy Show in Indy in 2002. He had it for sale on this site but I don't know who bought it. The LeMans Blue Camaro was bought from Cliff Ernst by it's original owner back in the late 90's. I assume he still owns it. It along with the Fathom Green Camaro from Freidley were at the Chevy Vette Fest in 2003. I see in the registry there is another Fathom Green Camaro 614328 that is shown as being sold by Freidley, but it doesn't show that car as being a Yenko. This car has the earliest VIN of the 4 Camaros so I assume it is a Yenko as well. |
