Mallory Distributors

I thought I would share my newest hobby which is restoring Mallory distributors. Only have a few but I have grown to really like these things. If anyone has any parts or interested in having one restored let me know.

ZC465HP (Chevrolet), YC365HP (Big block Mopar), 1031001 (Chevrolet) and YC 497HP (small block Mopar)

I had Jim (Bubba) Lindy at Bubba's Ignition restore my Mallory Ignition. Not only does he completely rebuild and the housing and shaft, but he has most parts in stock and if anything is worn he replaces the worn parts, spins them up and tests everything prior to shipping them back in 100% working condition. He's been doing it for 40 years and does a great job. Good hobby to have, but working parts are getting hard to find for these.

Anyone convert one of these to Unilite Breakerless functionality?

BOWTIE67327 03-01-2019 02:08 PM

I have used pertronix in them

NorCam 03-01-2019 02:20 PM

Pertronix is an easy conversion, but they are only good to about 6K rpm.

Not a good match for the rpm I like to shift at in a solid lifter motor.

I guess if you are the type to just send something out to have it rebuilt vs wanting to learn how it works and to be able to say that you rebuilt/restored it. To each is own. :beers:

Btw why did he or you paint the distributor and looks like the cap it too..

Poor assumptions there Darrell, but I do know I wouldn't be sending parts for you to restore in this environment.

On the contrary Darrell does good work and the great thing about him he uses his mind to figure things out and do them correctly he is an honest guy that takes a lot of pride in his work no matter what his workbench looks like

Appears to me the OP posted asking for parts as well as letting others know he can restore their distributors if they would like.

Then you hijacked the thread to redirect attention and undermine his post.

You’re probably not a bad guy, but these posts are far from helpful.

I would. The man’s work is second to none. Talent out the yang!

I found that a guy with a well worn work area has lots of knowledge because of experience , you can work for me anytime Darrell!!!!!

Copo_Cartel 03-01-2019 08:31 PM

That’s called ...”Sperance” Nuge

A clean work area means not a lot of work is getting done.

NorCam 03-02-2019 09:56 PM

Just for the record...my original post was not to undermine Darrell's work or his solicitation of parts/business. It was to show one that I had restored by a well known restorer who does it as a professional service and to say it's a great hobby to have while mentioning parts are getting hard to find.

Darrell decided to throw a couple darts while implying someone who sends something to a pro to restore doesn't understand how it works? An ignorant comment at best since many of us (myself included) can restore and rebuild our own distributors. Pictures available if you'd like that substantiated. My comment back was probably in bad taste, and I do apologize for that.

Out of here!
