Kens Completed 89 IROC Build
16 Attachment(s)
Ok being I'm in a weird mood and looking at 1950s F100 Ford trucks. I figured I would show off my recent Disco Build. Blue 89 IROC 305, 5 Speed T top car. All Numbers matching , but with modern updates. She passed our strict California Smog laws with flying colors, and its a blast to drive.

Very sharp Ken! I miss my 84 Z28. Left it out there with you Californians when I traded it in on my 93 in Carlsbad when I was stationed on Pendleton. I think my 84 ended up in Mexico unfortunately. Every once in a while I run the vin to see if it ever came back, but no bueno. I'd love to do to my 84, what you did to your IROC.

That IROC came out beautiful. I always wanted to do one with an LS and full tuned suspension.
|
Very sharp Ken! Looks like a LOT of FUN!!!

Nicely done. Have a blast with it!:3gears:

Very well done.

Looks brand new....and wow! Love it:biggthumpup:

Looks like one of your typical well engineered projects. Can I ask the specifics of the modernization efforts? Is that still a tiny-bore 305 making those numbers? Thanks in advance...

Ken,
Fantastic build! I have some experience restoring the third gen cars. I can appreciate the skill and patience you put into it. |
Ken, that’s what I need to complete my collection! Can I have it?

Here is my old DX3 car...
|
Wow, that Flame Red(?) IROC is beautiful
|
In 1989 it was called Dark Red metallic. Code 74U:beers:
|
Wow, Very Nice. Was it somewhat common to order these. with stripe Delete?
|
Ken It depended on the dealer. People were starting to become aware of the decal duplicating the exterior badging already in 88.
GM attempted to mitigate the duplication visuals by moving the decal to the rear portion of the door to make it less obvious to the eye. Where my 89 was ordered the salesmen there ordered a ton of DX3's. I used to walk the lot and check them out. At any time they had 25-30 IROC's on the lot and as I recall the majority were DX3 cars. |

Thanks Ken!
I have owned 4. Still have 3, including the last car off the assembly line when Norwood plant closed for good in 1987. A bright red IROC-Z |
