Where did all the 67 Camaros go?

I’ve been watching the forums and ebay pretty closely lately and I can’t remember the last time I saw a really nice 67 Camaro for sale. Yes, the same 2 or 3 67 Z’s are on eBay every month, but it seems like the 67’s have dried up!

Wouldn't it be awesome to go back in time!

Gotta love that ad...guy posts 5 exterior pics and then says "come look at it, not answering a million questions". At least the exterior looks clean!

I see a lot of them on facebook.

I had mine out last night. Nothing like 456's , manual steering and manual drum brakes to get the juices flowing! This car runs unbelievable, so docile, yet put your foot into it and hold... What a rush!!!

Beautiful '67 Steve. Your brakes and steering are the same set up as my '68. One of the guys from our car club called my car, "A Man's Car" with all the mechanicals and no power, lol.

Grandkids riding

Got my 67 out couple sundays ago n took the grandkids for spin. They love it when I bang second gear n bark the tires. We’ve had a cool wet spring n not had chance to get out much. Kinda lost interest in the car somewhat, been riding quite a bit last couple years.

Zedder 06-11-2020 08:32 PM

Thanks for the links! And for rubbing it in Steve! Love that car

If you really lose interest Richard, don’t hesitate to let me know! I’ve been polishing my bikes rather than riding due to all the rain we’ve had this week!

GrumpyJeff 06-11-2020 10:09 PM

I've owned my 67 for 31 years this month, And I've probably had it out more this spring than the last 10 years combined thanks to this Covid time off .

marxjunk 06-12-2020 12:01 AM

are ya watching craigslist or facebook market place..i see more 67s than 8s and suddenly theres 69s all over the place..i guess people are running out of money and selling projects around here in the Kansas City area

Zedder 06-12-2020 12:32 AM

Watching ebay, BAT, Facebook, Kijiji, Hemmings, Autotrader

Love the red stripes! :beers:

markjohnson 06-12-2020 05:46 AM

That high-waisted 1967 pinstripe really does it for me & when it’s combined with those big, iconic “396” crossed flags on the front fenders . . . well, I’ll just hand my checkbook over!

luzl78 06-12-2020 11:22 PM

Love the red stripes....take off the spoiler.

Steve’s spoiler

Wasn’t the spoiler a dealer install requested by the original owner?

Regrettably the original owner had dealer install spoiler. Amazingly the paint is a perfect match, and it's truly part of the cars history from day one.:3gears:

Dana, Is the color of your car Emerald turquoise?

Zedder 06-14-2020 01:40 AM

Looks like a Tahoe to me Richard

Thank you Mark. Here are the only other pics I have. Let me know if you want more, and I'll try to get them. Unfortunately I don't know almost anything about the car's previous history. I bought it from the 3rd owner who did a frame off restoration. He thought the second owner had lived in Reading, PA. The engine, trans, and rear end are all original and have been rebuilt. The interior is all original except for the carpet and headliner. It's Tahoe Turquoise with a black standard interior. The Powerglide is floor mounted in a console; 3:31 posi rear. It has what I've been told anyway are relatively rare options: outside remote mirror, rear window defogger, 8 track, power windows, and front seat head restraints. It also has a dealer installed tissue dispenser or holder that mounts on the bottom of the dash right below the glove box.
The 3 things I wish it had are disc brakes, deluxe interior, and gauges instead of the 8 track. Oh well, I still like it.

It's Tahoe Turquoise.

Zedder 06-14-2020 10:10 PM

Still looks great TJ! I was just looking at pics of your car that I got from the previous owner in the late 90’s while I was cleaning out some files the other day!

Zedder 06-14-2020 10:12 PM

Thanks Dana! Yes, you have some great options on that car. I usually see white tops with Tahoe, but I love the black top and headrest seats! I had a Tahoe RS when I was 19 and my brother had a Tahoe SS clone. It’s a beautiful color.

danachevroletfor1967 06-15-2020 06:27 PM

Yes, I really love that color too. I have wondered if getting the black vinyl top automatically made the stripes black also or would my car have come originally with white stripes? My car doesn't have them now after the repaint, but also the pinstripes that would have come as part of the RS package; would they have been white? Could my car have originally come with black bumble bee stripe and black pinstripes if it was ordered that way in order to match the vinyl top?

Chuck_Burg 06-15-2020 06:35 PM

Love this thread! I'm restoring one now. You can check my build progress in the Chevrolet section. Day 2 67

Yes, black top, nose and pin stripes would be correct.

I’ve been following along...great car!

6t7 camaro 06-16-2020 12:48 AM

Mark, I believe the only color stripes available with Tahoe Turquoise were white, regardless of vinyl top. According to MacNeish’s books each primary color was assigned a stripe color. Tahoe Turquoise was white. The only exception was Marina Blue and Bolero Red. Both of those came with white stripes unless a black vinyl top was ordered and then the stripes changed to black.

Zedder 06-16-2020 12:53 AM

You could very well be right. We have two local Tahoe cars with black tops and stripes...one RS and one RS SS, but both have been restored and maybe the owners changed the stripes. I’ve forgotten a lot of the details that I used to know about these cars, so I certainly stand to be corrected! I’m sure Jon or Kurt will weigh in...

But for what it’s worth...I do like the black stripes even if they are incorrect!

I think you are right based on this pic of what is claimed to be original paint. Thanks for catching my mistake!

6t7 camaro 06-16-2020 01:22 AM

Just repeating what I’ve read. By no means do I make any claims of knowing everything. I do love that color though. Steve’s car, Dana’s car, and the picture you just posted are all beautiful examples.
