Might be a shot in the dark but am looking for my dad's 1968 Chevelle SS 396.He sold it privately in September 1971 and bought a '71 LT-1 Vette. It might be long gone but hopefully it's still on the road.Thanks,Bill.

His brother,at the same time,ordered a '68 Beaumont SD L78/M22.
|
Good luck with the hunt!

Thanks Anthony!

Have you tried for the Ontario Used Vehicle Pkg. by Vin? Do you have the Beaumont Vin too? Best of luck w/ your quest! :beers: ~ Pete . |
Unfortunately I don't have the Beaumont vin Pete.I remember it was an ugly green colour with Cragar G/T wheels. My dad sold his Chevelle to a guy in Quebec.Might try the O.U.V.P. Thanks!

In 1968 my ex-father-in-law was a salesman at the local Pontiac dealer, C. W. Smiths, in Brantford, Ont. He tried to order me a new 68 SD with the L78 and I can confirm it was not available. I had previously went to the Chevrolet dealer and they could get a Chevelle for me with the L78, so he thought he could get the same option on the Beaumont; no such luck. I ended up buying my 68 Stratochief with a 427 4spd at that time from him. I eventually bought, and still have, a 68 Beaumont SD as well, however it is only the 350 hrs.

Bill....best of luck in your hunt. That's a great car and nicely optioned. I've never seen a seafrost convert in the 45 yrs I've followed these cars. Hope you find it!
Sounds like your uncle has good taste as well! The 68 SD's are gorgeous and an M22 is the top of the heap. |

Here's the LT-1 he bought after selling the Chevelle. He sold it in 1999 with around 40k miles on the clock.Still had born with drive train. The tires in the pic, taken just before selling, were originals from factory.Original paint. The only thing he did to the Vette when he bought it was take off the pollution pump and it was in a box given to the new owner. It was a 4 speed, had leather interior and a luggage rack.Sold it for $25K.Sure doesn't sound like a lot now!
|
Have you looked for the LT-1

Did you ever try for the Ontario Vehicles Info kit by Vin for the '68 SS? There may be some luck w/ them gaining the LT-1 Vin by ETS-851 Plate # in the photo too? Also, I don't know how far back it reaches or if even true but someone told me recently, your complete Ontario Vehicle ownership history w/ Vins is in the system w/ your Driver's License # also printouts available for a fee. Best of luck w/ your backtracking! :beers: ~ Pete . |
Thanks for the info Pete.Found the VIN for the LT-1 in a bunch of old papers!
|
What is the VIN for the Corvette
|
The V.I.N.is 194371S1188993.My dad bought it at Myers Motors on Sept.2/71.
|
yOU HAVE an extra digit in the last part of the VIN typo ???
|
The LT-1 is on the LT-1 survey so it is still around i am waiting to hear back from the guy running the survey to see where the car is now
|
You're correct Ralph it should be 194371S118993.Thanks for your input, much appreciated!
|
My dad was not the original owner. The person who bought it new could not afford the payments and took it back to Myers to be sold by them.My dad saw it in the showroom and snatched it up!He paid $6400.00 for it.The bill of sale is not from Myers though but from the owners....W.&G.Latondresse.
