1 Attachment(s)
Who has a die cast or hot wheels of their car?
One w/ chicken on the hood, one with mags and no bird. |
Not a Hot wheels, but JL did a limited collectible in the tin of my Wife's 1982 Camaro.
Rumor has it that they are going to release one of my 1987 too. |
I daily drove an amusement park type ride for 10 years. That was my Hot Wheels.

Auto World is releasing a 1/18th of my convert later this month....
|
I have Jonny Lightning cars of my '67 SS Chevelle, '72 SS Chevelle and my '69 Camaro. They're not actually my cars, but they look just like them.
|
I have a Johnny Lightning of my GTO.
It is actually my car, and the packaging uses a pic taken during a magazine photoshoot. K http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...3.jpg~original http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...6.jpg~original |

I remember my first Hot Wheels, I never stopped likin them. Cleaning out my moms house, I found my hit wheels case in the attic, it was empty. I was bummed. Luckily they repop a few, I got the faves again, chaparral, splitting image, and silhouette, I haven’t found the Deora yet, it’s a ‘Camino with 2 surf boards on the back, I picked up a COPO, who doesn’t like a COPO. lol

A bud Jim, RIP, always put a model of his 62 GP on his Aircleaner, one day I forget where we were but he shuts his hood. :stupid:

To be completely honest I was disappointed he didn't call Dad out by name when I first saw the packaging. I'm not sure why they didn't, but still kinda cool (I think). K |

This is a little random but too good to pass up.
We got these little 1/64 scale Ertl '65 GTOs, which are kind of generic, but for some reason have an obvious gray tool box in the trunk. The connection is that we would flat tow the GTO with the towbar and with Dad's gray Craftsman tool box in the trunk of the car, for ballast (it drops the tail of the towed vehicle, improving the caster, thereby making it tow better). When we got to the track we would weigh in for our class with the towbar and these huge logging safety chains still installed, full of fuel, the toolbox in the trunk and me (all 45 lbs or so) standing on the scale. Then when we got back to the pits all that extra weight would come flying out of the car for eliminations. This little Ertl GTO has always reminded me of that. K |
JL just did one of my '72 GTO from MCACN last year.Way Cool!

The Hot Wheels Legends Tour was a pretty cool show to be invited to. There were a lot of crazy vehicles there as they use the shows to select what model Hot Wheels to make next, and select one from each show that goes to the final show where the selection is made.
I had lost a valve just before this show, so while I drove into the show, I had to keep turning it off and starting it up in the line because I kept smoking out the poor people in the VW bus behind us in line who were super nice. |

I remember Hot Wheels at the auto show, maybe this was it, I can’t remember. They did make a hot wheels version of the new camaro.
A bud back in Chevy gave me a set of badges off a car, I still have them. |

"Johnny Lightning had a contest called “your car is the star” series. You sent in a pick of your car and if you were picked as a winner they made your car. There were 6 cars in the series. That’s pretty much it." Jim |

Sometimes you gotta make your own combo, I worked at a Display shop that did the Auto Shows so we had all kinds of perks, I took apart a hot wheels that had a black interior, took the interior and my Qt can of PPG GM #62 dark camel tan and had it sprayed. Lol

So Order a Car (Model) 1:87, 1:64, 1:24, 1:25 etc in the closest configuration you can from existing stock. Disassemble and Paint Decal as needed. Not to over the top but just get it close. Here is a White 68Z I disassembled, Painted the interior and added a textured V top to match my 1:1 car in the garage. I just did not want to put the effort into a Flat Hood, I need to source a similar model harvest a Flat hood and paint it. Jim |

Did you make that, or buy it? K |
Thanks Keith, it is a nice case. It was originally a furniture store item.
My brother used to have a collection of several hundred vintage farm toys, mostly 1/25 scale tractors. (That's a big deal in this part of the country). When he downsized I got a couple of his cases. Bill W |
