'59 Rambler Cross Country Wagon, Off the Road 40 Years

Man...AMC was really out there with their styling - but there's something endearing about this wagon. I can't imagine there are more than a handful of these still in existence.

Hate to say, but this would be a perfect LS swap candidate. Or, for the AMC purist, a stout 401....

Love the "AM Air Conditioned" emblems on the 2 front doors....a classy addition. And factory air on one of these has gotta be a rare bird.

I couldn't help myself. Never in a million years did I think I would own a Rambler.
It is pretty cool.

Just bought it!

Steve,

Congrats on the cool purchase! There wasn't much info in the listing...is this a running, driving vehicle? Factory a/c components present?

Jonesy 02-23-2021 09:13 PM

Ok, I got both of my tail lights. Thanks again Jonesy.

I am going to pick up the wagon on Thursday. It is mostly complete but has been sitting for awhile. Not running but everything looks original under the hood. I'll get a better look at it on Thursday.

Congrats on the purchase.

Post a pic of the AC controls when you get a chance. I believe there is a setting for "desert only", although that may have come along a little later, like late 60's.

Always got a kick out of that setting.

In the summer out here, you really NEED a "desert only" setting!

As cold as it was here last week (-3) at my house I think I'm ready for summer. I have some interior pictures the owner sent. Its hard to see any settings for the A/C and heater. I'll post them If I can figure out how.
