Eric Jackson

Anybody know if Eric Jackson is still doing business

396_425 08-11-2022 02:55 PM

Yes, he is conducting business. I had my Holley 4053 redone about two months ago, quick turn around.

Very busy, though he does not do Corvette carbs anymore. He does all of our carbs and have been very happy with his work over 15 years.

He doesnt do corvette carbs anymore ? or carbs for corvette guys?

Big Block Bill 08-12-2022 12:08 AM

Both

He will do Corvette carbs for an existing customer as long as he's had good experience with that customer. At least that's what he's posted on FB, best to call and speak with him.

A quick fly-by to clear things up a little;

As of February `22, I stopped taking in new Corvette clients. I am still servicing Corvette carbs, but only for previously established clients in good standing. I have made a small handfull of exceptions to help out a couple of clients and outside resources whom I didn't want to leave hanging.

To answer the obvious question "why?"--simply put, over the 2+ decades I've been doing carb work professionally, by far the biggest problem demographic I've had to deal with was from the Corvette community. Yes, some of my best clients have been Corvette clients, but the ~5% of the "bad" Corvette clients are hands-down in a league of their own.

I have made several lengthy posts addressing this on my Facebook page, but to summarize, things came to a head earlier this year with someone who--shall we say--has far more pressing issues to deal with than their Corvette. That situation was literally one wrong move from going completely sideways, and the result would've altered the course of people's lives.

I'm not going to deal with that kind of stupidity any longer. I wish I could say that problems of that magnitude were isolated incidents, but "drama" (I'm being polite here) on that level is easily 20-1 from the Corvette community over all other demographics combined. It's truly sad to say that the 5% have managed to screw things up for the other 95%, but it is what it is.

There's much more to read over on my Facebook page should anyone care to do so, I'm not going to clutter up this board with this crap, I already wore out my welcome here a while back and don't want to stir up any hornets nests. Just go to my page and search "Corvette" for the rest of the details.

That aside, yes, I am still doing business as normal. I also have a bunch of new projects in the works, details on those can also be found on my Facebook page.

Eric,

What name is your facebook page listed under? I tried searching for vintage musclecar parts and it just sends me to the generic marketplace instead.

Personally, I NEVER dealt with anyone in this industry (we can't call it a hobby any longer.... even if that is what it is to me and many of you!!!) who gave me more personalized service and went above and beyond what I expected, than Eric.

I get EXACTLY what he is saying about the 5% in the Corvette community. When I purchased my first Corvette in 2017 or 2018 (70 LT1) I started searching for just a few little parts that I needed.

I was ridiculed by a few guys on one of the Corvette forums for things completely unrelated to my hobby. Needless to say, I haven't been back often.

By contrast, the Corvette guys on this forum are nothing but helpful and supportive.

Nothing but praise for the man! Eric did an awesome resurrection on the absolutely destroyed Quadrajet I used for my Gramma's Firebird. I know Gramma is looking down and nodding her head approvingly saying: "Such a nice carburetor man. And so talented, too!"

Eric is the 'carb' man! Just finished up a Carb for my W-31 and Bandit T/A. Thank you for your prompt and professional service.

67since67 08-12-2022 09:00 PM

Eric has done several carbs for me. The first was a Q-Jet that had been through two other prominent shops and still ran like crap. Now it runs better than new. I am his customer for life! - Bill W

Agree 100% with Eric, I was a judge for the Ncrs group, it got so bad that I sold my Ls6 because I wanted nothing to do with that group ever again.

Not all corvette people are bad, but too many of them are so bad, that people must resort to distance yourself from them. I am talking about the C2 crowd mostly.

olredalert 08-12-2022 09:52 PM

----I have lost count of the carbs that Eric has done for me. He even went thru the (very small) Weber carb on my wife's Fiat Jolly and now she can actually start it. A while back I stopped telling Corvette guys that I know are, let's just say, compromised upstairs about Eric, and that was even before he made this decision. I also was a many many year member of NCRS (back to the Sam Folz days) and stopped back about 10 years ago. The pettiness was just crazy. I did, just lately resume the membership, but just to keep up with the good friends that I had been missing. Eric is the man!!!.....Bill S

Eric is the best. Not too much else to say.

I could only wish that a lot of business's would take the same professional approach he does. His work is spectacular and his stuff just works perfectly.

LOL,you can't recommend Eric highly enough in todays world.
I had a complete stranger @ a local car cruise ask me who should he send his Holley to,I told him about Eric.
He said he was still skeptical & wasn't sure.
I preached some more Eric to him,but he still wasn't convinced.
I then told him that I will pay the full bill that Eric will charge him, including both ways shipping too,if he wasn't 100% satisfied,no questions asked.
He sent his carb off to Eric later that week, once it was returned to him,he installed it on his Chevelle & called me up to say I can keep my money.

L72Biscayne 08-13-2022 06:52 PM

That's really sad to hear that about Corvette guys. I don't own one now but I'm in the process of buying a 66 L72 coupe that has been sitting a while. I've never used Eric but have only heard great things about him and his work. Can anyone else recommend someone.

VintageMusclecar 08-13-2022 10:40 PM

Thanks again for all the kind words, it is sincerely appreciated.

Also, please note that I am not recommending--nor advising against--any other vendors.

One last thing that may be of further interest which was brought to my attention recently--go take a look around Doc Rebuild's site.

If I may wax philosophical for just a moment before I have to sign out again--

God how I miss the days when this was all still about the cars and the camaraderie and not about the d*ck-swinging egos and the money. :(

I'm out.

RALLY 08-14-2022 09:33 PM

Keep up the great work Eric.
