Just like the Green / Green 1971 LS-6 mentioned last week here, another Denis Collins (CBJEEP) find and listing. He must have bought out a collection I would assume. Both Rare and worthy cars to either DO, or drive the snot out of them (I'd prefer the later). I like them both, but I surely don't need another project. Bill

I reached out to the seller, as I had a couple of questions. Most notably, the windshield frame and the birdcage. Given the fact the car came from Maryland, there is always reason for concern.

After 3 days, I have not received a response. All I can do is bid accordingly. My thoughts were to do a mechanical restoration, and leave the cosmetics alone (like my old injected 64 coupe that I did).

It seems as though the LT1 is doing well. I cannot believe ONE person has not questioned the engine pad. Blind sheep following the seller I guess.

engine pad stamp? Look good to you folks?

L72Biscayne 05-29-2024 02:54 PM

Interior code 403 is deluxe leather but it has 1969 vinyl seats.

Was wondering about that pad stamp.
Broach marks look good.
I THINK I have a pic of my pad stamp on my 70 LT-1 on my computer at the house. But, it is four months earlier than this one, being a Feb car.

Here are two 1970 LT1 pads with the same build date for comparison. These are two separate engines.

Here is the one from the LT1 on BaT.

I am far from an expert but this looks a lot different, especially the “k”. What say you?

turbojet427 05-30-2024 12:04 AM

IMO, the CTK was restamped. By who or when, I don't know. I think the V0615 is original. No other proof of being a real LT-1.

The T and K in that pad stamping look to be altered

Hotrodpaul 05-30-2024 01:14 PM

I would agree, the "T" and "K" have been altered or re-stamped with possible broach marks re-done under them. The marks look different under the "V". Also, you can see the metal is raised around the outside of the letters from the stamping process, but on the right side of the "C", it is flat, where the deck was re-sanded or machined to add the "T" and "K".

Stamp

I think it's legit. Just a bounce strike imo. Hit harder left to right and top to bottom. Broach marks seem good. The mark on the lower right of the "K"? ... who knows. Was it hit in that exact spot when doing the water pump? Did someone "enhance it" with a screwdriver and a hammer? Regardless, my money would be on authentic. Unfortunately it will soon be out of my price range. As strange as it may seem, I was pretty concerned about the seats. Why did they end up there?

sixt9rsx33 06-01-2024 12:44 PM

I think the stamp is questionable. The 06 on the BAT car are different than what Tim posted and the deep broach marks dont look like factory to me.
