I am sorry to hear that Cliff has passed. He was one of the great car guys and just an all around nice person, he treated everyone the same, with great respect.

When hear or seen the name Cliff Ernst, I always remember the magazine article of him in front of a multi-car garage with his Camaros visible in each doorway.
One in every color.
I'll have to dig up the magazine out my collection and re-read the article again.

Here's the article about Cliff's Yenko Collection from the October 1993 issue of Super Chevy. I'd love to hear Cliff and Floyd Garrett bench racing!

I still have that magazine. I remember receiving it in the mail. What an issue.

He will be missed by his family and close friends. However we all felt in awe of his passion and his willingness share his cars with all of us through magazine article, and car events he sponsored. He made a huge impact on the musclecar hobby and will be missed. RIP....

Cliff was a great friend and an awesome person! I will truly miss him.

R.I.P Cliff , He was a great guy and had an amazing collection of Yenkos

Pro Stock John 06-03-2024 11:36 PM

RIP, read all those articles in the past.

Guessing he did a lot for the scene, finding and restoring cars.

RIP Cliff...

Super Chevy went back to talk to Cliff 13 years after the 1993 Yenko article.

The 2006 article is on the Motortrend site here.

I used to take the my 4K car to all the Forge shows. I vividly remember the third annual show referred to here. If you are a Camaro Super Car guy the trip to Mr. Ernst place that Saturday night would be something you’d never forget.
I had a ton of pics of those days but when I moved to my new home in 2008 they didn’t survive the move. 👎. Mr. Ernst reminded me of Floyd Garret, just another car guy at the show checking out the cars.

I remember having a few conversations with Cliff, he needed some rear sway bar parts for a Deuce he was doing, very nice, honest guy.

I was told by a very good source that 4 or 5 of the Camaro's & 1 Nova will be up for sale soon by the family.

So sorry to hear this,
R.I.P. Sir

Good video talking about Cliff and his cars. I did not know he was a engineer.

That explains when I once asked Cliff which car he admired the most,he said "All of em,I admire the ingenuity that went into in each & every one of them."

I love that 58 but I'm guessing this collection will hit the moon.

it is a nice video and great collection.

I'm surprised they didn't mention his Yenko cars. Some are shown in the video.

Cliff was the King of the Yenkos

Mecum Kissimmee

I’ll have to go back and look, but I’m pretty sure there were several cars up for auction in January of 2024. I distinctly remember a Lemans Blue Yenko Camaro and a few other really nice cars. If I’m correct I bet others will be at Kissimmee in January 2025.

Cheers,
Marty

Hawkeye 10-28-2024 10:05 PM

I was wrong!!

Well, it happens from time to time. I was wrong…
Although there were some cars from his collection, none of the Yenkos crossed the block. What can I say, there’s like 3500 cars there. I can’t remember them all. 😂

Marty
