2002 (5th) Supercar Reunion

The date and location for the 2002 Supercar Reunion is set. It will be held September 21, 2002 at the same location as in 2001, the Gateway Center in Collinsville, IL. I had hoped to keep the event on Labor Day weekend, but a large covention has the center and all area hotel rooms booked for that weekend. More details will be announced as we move closer to the event. Tom

OK Charley, there goes your labor day excuse. How about bringing that '80 Motion Camaro and hit the nitrous at the track. https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/burnout.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/burnout.gif

Is there still the possibility of renting the track? I think 1/2 a day would be fine. Would be great to get 5-10 runs in without all the waiting and the inevitable oil downs from some of the bracket cars. I'm hoping to bring something new next year that might be somewhere in the 11's https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/laugh.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/laugh.gif (look out Rob) No details yet, but perhaps soon.

Hey Charlie:

Is this "possible" new toy a supercar, a paly toy, or both https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif?

11's, huh? Sounds like I had better get a set of Drag Radials ready... https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif

are we running the risk of bad weather, holding it later in the month? if so, we should maybe entertain more "indoor" activities...

Re: 2002 (5th) Supercar Reunion

Like what kind of indoor activities are ou thinking about? Last time I checked, it took one HECK of a big building to fit a drag strip inside https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif!

I don't know what the weather in St Louis is like at the end of September but if it's anything like around here, the parking lot, cruise, and drag events may not turn out too good.

Re: 2002 (5th) Supercar Reunion

Well, fortunately the show is indoors, so the other events are just "gravy". I don't think we really have to worry about the outside events getting rained out, as it happened before (Reunion #2), and the show is the part of the weekend that everyone is there for anyway. Although, I will say I enjoy the racing the most... https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/burnout.gif

Hmmm...an 11 second "beast", huh? Sounds like we might have to pull out all the stops...a set of "stickies" https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif. Pete: isn't that close to your neighborhood (11s) https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/wink.gif?

Marlin, you remember your MCR's well! I plan to bring it to the Reunion and race it. See you there. https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/burnout.gif

So, did your wife let you keep your other toys https://www.yenko.net/ubb/smilies/images/icons/smile.gif? Have you had it to the track yet?

Re: 2002 (5th) Supercar Reunion

Rob, for now I have all of the other toys and truthfully, the last thing I needed was yet another car, but we all know that story. I won't have it on the track until this coming Spring, but Joel used to guarantee 11's or your money back. I saw a drag test on a '71 Phase III car and it ran 11.5's to 12.0's. It's a neat car and has been in about 5 different magazines and was used for one of the ERTL diecast models. First plan is to put the Crager SS wheels back on it and perhaps the mid-year corvette side exhaust.
