I WANTED TO POST SOME PICTURES OF MY YENKO CHEVELLE, I HAVE NEVER POSTED ON THIS SITE, BUT HAVE BEEN AN OBSERVER FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND HAVE LEARNED SOME VERY GOOD INFOMATION,I WAS RECENTLY AT A MN. TEAM CHEVELLE GET TOGETHER WHERE I HAD MY CHEVELLE,AFTER ABOUT A WEEK I STARTED HEARING THAT MY CAR MIGHT BE A FAKO,PROBABLY NOT REAL,THIS BOTHERED ME A LITTLE SO I THOUGHT I WOULD POST SOME PICS,THIS CAR IS AN 18,512 ORIGINAL MILE CAR,ALL ORIGINAL DRIVETRAIN,ORIGINAL INTERIOR,EVERY NUT AND BOLT IS ORIGINAL,I ALSO HAVE A TON OF PAPERWORK INCLUDING ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS FROM YENKO CHEV. RICK NELSON HELPED ME FIND THIS CAR AND WHEN I SEEN IT I KNEW I HAD TO HAVE THIS CAR.
THANKS FOR LETTING ME POST THIS HERE, CHAD

Chad, Welcome to the site. Sounds like a great Yenko Chevelle. Is it original paint also?

chads454Ls6 11-01-2002 04:13 AM

Re: 69 yenko chevelle

yes, this car is original paint, although it is not something you would bring to a show, it is still unreal for a yenko chevelle. i tried to post other pics of motor and body but for some reason those pics came off my camera too large so i will try again later,i just hate when someone posts pics with no motor shots. Chad ALOHA and welcome to the SuperCar site. I will say I disagree with you on its not one to take to a show. Me-myslef and I would rather see a car such as yours as is and wonder what life it lead in the past. From the pics posted i wouldd say awesome car. enjoy it

Chad,
Rick mentioned this car to me a few weeks ago. If he felt that the car is real, I'd ask no further. However, if you needed any more assurance.....check out the offers above. You came to the right site and I think you got your answer. IMO, hang on to it! I know I would. Looking forward to seeing her in person soon. Congrats!!!

Chad,

I believe we spoke a couple of months ago. You had called me about a '69 Chevelle bench seat I had for sale on Chevelles.com. I still have the seat and it is yours if you can use it (I'm tired of tripping over it already)! Please e-mail me at [email protected] if your still interested.

Thanks,

CHADS73,
That is an AWESOME car. I would keep it as close to ORIG. as you can. And PLEASE don't put a bench seat in it. Thanx for sharing the Great pics. "MOF"

Re: 69 yenko chevelle

tell you what! those chevelles sure are getting a lot of attention. the new gentleman hasn,t even mentioned the word for sale and he has a list of waiters. by the way how much? please let me beat dave belk to this one! ha ha! i think they are as srong or stronger than camaros at this point look at the comparison of the for sale numbers, 37 known to exist, 70 - 100 camaros.

JoeC 11-04-2002 11:02 AM

Re: 69 yenko chevelle

I had one since 1986 and don't ever remember as much interest in the Yenko Chevelle as you see today. Years ago you could have purchased one for about half as much as a 69 Yenko Camaro.
Any one know if Rick Nelson has a Yenko Chevelle?
I hope Chad doesn't get the wrong impression of Chevelle owners. He goes to a show and people tell him the car is fake and he comes here and people want to buy it even though he never said it was for sale. The same thing happened to another Yenko Chevelle owner I know - now the guy won't even open his garage door.

There is always "experts" at car shows and they don't mind telling you what's wrong with your car. I witnessed to guys almost fighting over a comment made about a 1987 GN!

Rick Nelson doesn't own a Yenko Chevelle....I'm sure he wouldn't mind owning one though..

Re: 69 yenko chevelle

I just wanted to clear up an error i had made on an earlier post,it was no one at the mn get together(team chevelle) that had said my car was a fake, some people had seen pictures of it from there and had starting spreading rumors that it might not be real, and as for the car being for sale,it is not,i am collecting cars and hope to have some very rare ones in the future.I started to wonder when i purchased the yenko what was the popularity next to the camaro?it seems very hard to find a chevelle compared to a camaro, especially one that is untouched. I had planned to do a frame off next year but when i look at this car it is such a rare example of an untouched piece of history, the only things incorrect are some gauges the original owner had put under the dash, does not have the original battery the original tires "(of course) and a hurst shifter, which if he would not have changed that, we all know that it would not have the original motor. This car drives so nice and so tight, it is truly amazing!

JoeC 11-05-2002 08:51 AM

Re: 69 yenko chevelle

Chad, does it have the original exhaust system? There are questions on if the original exhaust used the tail pipe resonator or if it used a tail pipe with no resonator.
Also does it have the original exhaust tips? Some people say they used an exhaust tip with a rolled edge and some say the exhaust tip edge is just a cut edge with no roll or form to it.

Keith Tedford 11-05-2002 12:07 PM

Re: 69 yenko chevelle

We bought our COPO Chevelle new and I can only speak for it. This car was very near the end of the production run. It had the standard reverse flow mufflers and no resonators. It is my understanding that these resonator pipes were only used with the NC8 chambered exhaust. Just try chambered mufflers without resonators and you will know why they were used. Our exhaust tips were not rolled, but the usual angle cut. As a matter of fact we still have the old tips. It would be nice to find out when the rolled tip exhaust extensions were used. Was there any particular plant or time frame where the rolled tips were used? Other than pictures, I have never seen them.

JoeC 11-05-2002 02:32 PM

Re: 69 yenko chevelle

Keith, I agree with you on the exhaust and tips. I believe the rolled tip was only used for a very short time. I am just curious what Chad has on his Chevelle if it has original exhaust. It would be great to go over the car documenting all paint and chalk marks, code tags, etc.
before any restoration work is done. Not many unrestored COPO Chevelles left out there.
Chad what is the build date on trim tag?

Mike 11-05-2002 03:20 PM

Re: 69 yenko chevelle

Chad,

Sounds like a great car. To Joe's point, It would be a great source of reference for originality and something to document for other restorers. The car is only original once....don't restore it if you don't have to. Just my .02 cents. Good luck with it and enjoy.

By the way, who is Rick Nelson and what services does he offer?

Mike

439 block is out of a late 68 or early 69 427. Either a passenger or Corvette.
