Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
I was going to build a 69 Camaro using the parts as sold in the 1969 Motion catolog. I purchased most of the parts but never did it.
You can get it in a diecast. Ertl consults with Joel on building these cars. Some are built highly detailed to the real car as they were built from old pictures that Joel supplies to them. http://ebay3.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_...51be31/i-1.JPG |
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
JoeC wouldn't you love to see his vintage photo album!? (I don't know, maybe you have?)

Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
I'm sure that Mike of www.nastyz28.com has seen them. Mike, if you see this, you should convince Joel to let you scan them all in

Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
When my brother and I picked up the 89 Motion Mustang GT, Joel and his wife invited us in to their home. Next thing we knew we were sitting at Mr. Motion's kitchen table eating Motion donuts.
We were there for hours and Joel was great to us autographing stuff and telling us some fantastic supercar stories. I did get to see and even purchase some of the Motion memoribila. When we were there Joel was going through his old photos in order to lend them to Marty Schorr for his upcoming book on the Motion story. He has many of the original photos that are in the old magazines except they are in color where the magazines were in B&W. Joel is a real "SuperCar Legend" and has a pile of magazine articles, pictures, trophies, and time slips that prove it. |
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
I asked joel about scanning any/all photos he had. His answer at the time was "they're all boxed up and he doesn't know where the stuff was".
I can believe that since I've been to his house several times. About a month ago, I was on the phone with the boss and he was rummaging through some boxes they found and he was reminiscing. "Holy cow mikie... pictures of my 58 vette. National record time slips...." I just sat their and listened to him. Hopefully he'll leave those boxes out in a handy spot so I can get my hands on them. I'm supposed to help him move some boxes in a month. |

Is Joel still planning on moving to Florida?
|
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
Who owns this car now?
|
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
We had a nice talk with Joel yesterday, and "yes" he's still moving to Florida...in fact, he was in the middle of packing when we called.

Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
anyone got anymore pics of this car??
|
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
This car is now owned by Otis Chandler. I am currently in the process of cloning this car. I too fell in love at first sight. I'm not making an exact copy. But all the essentials will be there. Big block, 4 speed, white deluxe interior, and of course lots of green paint.
|
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
Orange..Please fill out your profile. Otis sold that car years ago, are you saying he owns it again ?
|
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
Who does own that car now Charlie, I think someone on here said the current owner had turned down 300K for that car!

Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
I thought the green car was in Idaho. Has that changed?
|
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
Wasn't that car in Otis Chandler's collection ?. Kim

Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
It was in the Otis Chandler's collection and a book with a bunch of his cars but that was a long time ago.

Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
I had the priviledge of driving this car way back when in Houston when a good friend( Tom Johnson) had the car. It was and still is a sweet car
|
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
Does Tom have any other BM cars? I recall a magazine article when he owned the green 69 Camaro before selling to Otis Chandler and it sounded like he had a few at one time.

Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
When I was fresh out of grad school and living in Houston, Texas in the mid-80's, I attended a Kruse auction at the Astro Arena (adjacent to the Astrodome). I was sitting in the stands when I heard what was easily the meanest sounding street car I've heard before or since. Out onto the auction floor rolls the aforementioned Camaro. I distinctly remember the auctioneer going over the car's rich-kid-from-Mexico heritage. I have no idea if the car sold or what it was bid up to. It was absolutely stunning and I'm sure I had a grin from ear to ear.
I'd be interested to know who the seller was and if it sold, who the buyer was and what the price was. It made a heck of an impression on me that's for sure. I'm glad to see it's still around and in great shape. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif |
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
Would sure like to see it tear up the strip at an SCR too.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
|
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
yes I agree...who's got the pull to get it there?...
|
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
Tom passed on some years back, his daughter, son's and son in law are good friends. He had so many cool cars in his day, I remember going over there after he returned from car hunting and there was always yenko's or Baldwin's, or rare muscle cars to see! Roy

Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
Last I heard the car is now in Idaho, but that was a few years ago.

Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
Hey Speedrx, small world. Come to think of it, nor did I have any money at that time! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif Perhaps those on the message board could estimate the value of the car today if it sold privately or if it was rolled out in front of the crowd at BJ.

Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/

WOW https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif |
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
I'd argue on that being the "baddest" Motion car.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif But it's certianly a car I love.. It is THE car that got me into Motion cars a long time ago and started this damn desease https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif

Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
That car is a Baldwin-Motion and not just a Motion, correct? That car looks very mean and intimidating just sitting there, I love that car! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...-I-Have-It.gif

Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
Yeah it's a Baldwin car https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif

Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
The Baldwins had a summer house just out of Bristol NH on Lake Newfound during the 60's. My Great grandfather bought his son the Chevrolet & Oldsmobile Dealership there...
Cook Chevy Olds in Bristol NH. My dad and Great Uncle used to talk about the Corvette's and other hi-po cars that the Baldwins brought to the lake for the summers. |
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
Baldwin Chevrolet was named after the town Baldwin, NY on Long Island where the dealership was located. At the time Joel Rosen teamed up with the dealership, no one named Baldwin owned it.
I'm confused how your post relates to this topic?? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif |
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
This photo is on Roger Gibsons website with a general description about the mexican and work done to it.Does anybody know what exactly needed tending to?
Quote from site:"..minor paint work and mechanical repairs done." http://www.rogergibsonautorestoratio...in_CamroLG.jpg |
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
These photos are from the Randy Leffingwell book "American Muscle", when Otis Chandler owned it.
Tom Johnson, the 2nd owner, was quoted in the book that this car filled every need he had in a car. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ers215/bm4.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ers215/bm3.jpg Anybody notice in the other pics that the car has the 6 cyl fenders? |
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
Rick-
Roger Gibson was here in town a few months ago preparing the first hemi cuda convertible built for an article that appears in the recent Mopar Action magazine. He invited me along for the photo-shoot in N. Scottsdale along with Bill Weiman(owner) and his white '71 hemi cuda convertible(last one built). I posted photos of this outing in the lounge section. In any event only minimal paint work was done to one area of the camaro. It is very original. What impressed me the most was that Roger said that of all the cars he has ever restored or wrenched on, this was the coolest and had the highest impact(and Gibson has worked on some very high end muscle). I'll find out more of what was done on the motor. Joe Oldham was present the day of the shoot as he was the first magazine editor to drive the red '70 hemi when it was released to the press back then with the essence of the article being the two reunited 35 yrs later. What blew my mind was when Joe told me about the wildest muscle car he ever owned-a Phase 3 BM camaro-the one that appears on the WANTED poster. It was stolen from him and never recovered. |
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
That's very kind of you,Thank You.

Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
I thought the Idaho owner only had Otis' Motion Chevelle, he has the Camaro too? Wow!
|
Re: green phase 3 mexican camaro/
I can't recall his name, but he owns an oil company. I think my red '71 BM Camaro ended up in Idaho as well but with a different owner.
