Pontiac Tojan

Anyone have any info on the Tojan? I know they were built between 1985 and 1989 (?) by Knudson Automotive of Omaha based upon the F-Body Pontiac Firebird TA and could be ordered thru a network of regular Pontiac Dealers. Please, no "Fast & Furious" jokes about that wing...

Don't know but have a qq for you. The green Camaro in the background. Is that a T/A front fender? Just curious as inquiring minds want to know. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif

The green car has Camaro fenders with TA air extractors

Re: Pontiac Tojan

I installed a set of 78 T/A fender air extractors on a 69 Camaro back in 1988. Looked pretty neat back then. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smirk.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

Re: Pontiac Tojan

I remember seeing something like that at the Chevy dealer back in 86 or so, a Camaro version. It was kind of expensive, 24K if I remember correctly, and had no performance improvement over a regular IROC. Just restricted visibility and extra weight added. I thought it was awful.

Lethal1973 01-03-2004 03:16 PM

Re: Pontiac Tojan

You should have driven one-better wheels, tires, upgraded suspension and actually lighter than the TA/IROC.
Simply Awesome!

Re: Pontiac Tojan

Just asking if anyone had any info. I guess I came to the wrong place. I have been looking at this forum for a month or so and found it to be both informative and a little snobbish at the same time. I always believe in the saying "If you can't say something good, don't say anything at all." To each his own...I certainly wouldn't take digs at another's car in a public forum, but that's just me. Adios!

Re: Pontiac Tojan

Sorry Lethal, I didn't think that you would take it that way. I guess it does look like we piled on too much. If it helps, I think your 73 is amazing.

Re: Pontiac Tojan

I agree with bbdon about your Camaro.. Were you ever able to determine if it was a true Yenko? That would be a neat one to own! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Insead of a Nissan 300Z with Herpes I prefer to think of it as a Trans-Am with a boob job gone bad. Just kidding about trading the ratty '73.

Re: Pontiac Tojan

Took you long enough to get my last post Charley...weren't there a lot of "different" body package cars built in the 80's ? I seem to remember some really goofy stretched 2 door Sevilles and Eldos....forgot what their names were but I thought they were made in Florida...maybe it was a Miami Vice craze thingy.

I don't recall ever hearing a difinitive response to the 73 you have and it's similarities to the Yenko ad posted. What's the scoop on that one? ..don't make me post more silly Toejam photo's. Fill us in on the 73..or at least point me to the ending of the thread that I missed. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

Well-that didn't work very well-the info is in the Yenko Forum back in November under "can Anyone repost The yenko Ad"
Tried to do a link to post #55003 but obviously do no know what I am doing!!
I don't think the 1973 is an "official" Yenko but interesting nevertheless.

Re: Pontiac Tojan

Sorry-the 73 camaro thread is in the Yenko forum as "1970-73 Yenko Camaro Advert" not "Can someone repost the Yenko ad"

Re: Pontiac Tojan

I knew those guys and went to their shop. The company was started by the 2 Knudsen brothers. I don't know what happened to them. The cars were basically a stock Firebird with body panels. This was all they could get away with doing because of EPA restraints. The quality of the panels and the work was actually pretty nice. The styling is in my opinion a little uh... different. But hey, everyones idea of beauty is different. Some people obviously like them because they sold more than a few of them. Frank
