Re: Anyone remember these
I remember having the following 8-tracks while flying in my new 70 Chevelle SS:
- Creedance Clearwater Revival. - Beatles (Abbey Road). - Guess Who. - Led Zeppelin. There was probably a few more that I just can't remember. Talk about "Cruisin' in style" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif |
Re: Anyone remember these
I Play most of those 8Tks in My Quad player in my Chevelle while attending local cruise ins all summer.
I being labeled,"That Moron stuck in the 60's!" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif |
Re: Anyone remember these

Re: Anyone remember these

LOL.I still have an old 8 track stereo in the game room and a host of old 8 track tapes that I still listen to.They don't sound nothing like the CD'S in my juke box but they are still cool.

Re: Anyone remember these
Man that is when music was actually good!! Now it all sucks. I bet you can't name 5 good modern songs per year that will stand the test of time like that music! Even at my young age that is ALL that I have ever listened to, influenced by my mother. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif

Good Eye Sue.....

Re: Anyone remember these
Do any of you Chi towners remember a band called the Shadezz? When we took out the dash in Engler's Fencil deuce there was a business card for that band stuck in the defroster. S.

Re: Anyone remember these
Sounds like a Thirsty Whale act. This place was a venue in the suburbs that catered to local bands as well as national acts. Toward the end of the run for this club nearly every band that played there had Z's or X's in the their names.
Footnote: Great hot dog place next door. Gene's and Jude's! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif Belair and SSL78 know what I am talking about. |
Re: Anyone remember these
I still have 300 plus 8 tracks..really high tech
|
Re: Anyone remember these
We went to Thirsty Whale after my first bachelor party...it was kind of weird bringing in a blow up doll at 2 in the morning...I never did get her back..Genes and Judes sucks now...I was there a couple weeks ago....and Darren...aren't you a little too young to remember the Whale ? John probably went to the Nickle Bag on River Rd. too !

Re: Anyone remember these
Belair I am 36. All the failed 80's bands played the Whale before it went under. For instance (Hey Rick!) A Flock of Seagulls. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: Anyone remember these
God that Thirsty was Somethin else.
At 10PM she's a 2...At 2AM she's a 10. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Ken That group sounds like one of our typical 60's Garage bands,that barely survived. What a Cryan' Shame... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif http://www.artistdirect.com/Images/S...11794oi00n.jpg |
Re: Anyone remember these
Ronny Rice from the New Colony Six is still doing carnivals and stuff like that..

Re: Anyone remember these
I thought it was kind of cool when you find stuff like that in a car. Shows that it was part of "the scene" back in the days. Only one paper. No roach clips, or seeds in the glove box. I kinda liked the New colony six. S.

Re: Anyone remember these
was helping a guy with a 69 Chevelle who had a bunch of questions on resto.
He can't figure out why it has all these holes in the lower dash area. I said it was probably for 8 tracks installed and removed over the years. He said what's an 8 track? |
Re: Anyone remember these
On that same theme,I was playing some old records on the turntable,& had my 18 year old Nephew stop by.He stares at the turntable & replies,"What Up wit Dat!"
I explain to him it's the Grandfather to his MP3. He laughs at me and says,"Why would listen to that Frisbee, don't you hear that crackling?". I replied,"What's Your Point!" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
Re: Anyone remember these
I guess that makes me a real dinosaur...I can still record the 8-tracks...from albums!!
|
Re: Anyone remember these
Anyone remember The Cyrcle and their song "SS 396"? They also did a promo song for the new '67 Camaro.

I cant remember what year he covered Neils song. I still have A few boxes of 8-tracks boxed up somewhere around here somewhere. I just don't have A workin player anymore. Re: Anyone remember these
Oh yeah, it was Paul Revere who did the song "SS 396." I have a VHS of muscle car TV commercials from the '60s and my favorite is the '69 GTO Judge commercial with Paul Revere and the Raiders 'holding court.' All rise! Great song in the commercial too.
"The Judge will rule!" "Judge: The special Great One from Pontiac." |

[/ QUOTE ] It was actually Paul Revere & The Raiders who were responsible for the "SS 396" track. The Cyrkle performed the "Camaro" tune. For you Pontiac guys, Paul Revere & The Raiders also did a promotional song called "Judge GTO Breakaway." Some pretty cool lyrics in there, the chorus goes "Pontiac Ram Air 400 cubes for action...wide track...mag type...polyglas shoes for traction...THE JUDGE WILL RULE!" You can download it at Apple's iTunes.com Pretty cool tune and worth every penny of the $.99 IMO, and I'm not even a Poncho buff. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |
