Rolled outside for the first time

My COPO project is moving forward. Needed to clean the shop so I rolled her outside into the sun for the first time. Now for paint.

It takes alot to impress me Al, and each time you post something on your COPO, you have done just that. Your COPO would be an added bonus to SCR8, and you can bet I'll be stopping by. Nice Work! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Albert,
Looks like you may have block sanded the body a bit too much. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif What's left looks great!

Al,

Very nice! Love to see more detailed pics as the COPO project nears completion. Of course we will see the real deal at SCR8, but keep us drooling in the meanwhile with bite size pics. Please! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Re: Rolled outside for the first time

Thanks for the kind words everyone...I'm afraid I will be disappointing some people as the car will probably not be done for this years reunion. Still have a long way to go and lots of money to spend!, but it will be done and will make a appearance at SCR9.My goal for this summer and this car is to get some color on the body. It is out now getting some NOS quarters hung and I'm hoping to have it back by the end of June, but for now I am going to enjoy the summer a bit and take some time off to keep showing my 70 SS.

Well then just bring the frame. People would dig that...BTW what tires are those? Are they Polyglas? Not picking at all but the wording Polyglas was not used in the GM line in 1969. The tires would have Wide Tread F-70-14 on the sidewall. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif...BKH

Albert,

Now is when the resto usually gets "fun". The stripping blasting and preperation is the part that usually drags.

Congrats... Well done.

I never thought of that..just bringing the frame. Would it fit in with the rest of the crowd? Would people really want to look at just the chassis? You guys decide...take a vote. Yes I bring it..no I don't. As for the tires Brian, they are Polyglas. I have seen quite a few cars with these tires and " assumed " that they are correct. So I bought a set. They will do for now. Are the Wide Tread F70-14 tires available like the Polyglas? Thanks

Re: Rolled outside for the first time

Albert, I got a set of Wide Treads from Kelsey last year.

You might want to wait before ordering. I just today secured them as a sponsor for our "Northern Chevelle Gathering" and we will have a $500 gift certificate from them for a set of Classic Tires. Hey, you just might win them at "The Falls" https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

If it's good enough for Chevell-Abration,it's good enough for The SuperCar reunion. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
Guys bring projects like this down to Nashville all the time. You know,..were down there in 2000 too.

Re: Rolled outside for the first time

We brought a partial finished DH Camaro to a Camaro meet and it was the most popular car we ever showed. You can really see small detail that is normally hidden. We may do that again this year at the SCR8. I vote yes..BKH

Yep, bring 'em on, as the SCR is about any and all supercars, even if not completed. Pantera debated long and hard about whether to bring his unrestored Motion Vette to SCR7, but I for one am glad he did. I still hear commnents about how cool it was, with the rusted out sidepipes and all.

That car will be back again in 2005, only fully restored this year, right Pantera? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Sorry guy's, I am afraid that it just may not make it to this years show. Too much going on to get much time to work on it like I thought I would. Still have not found a LS-7 shortblock with the correct date on it.

Also:Remodeling the house has to come first. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif

Wow..lots of positive replies! Have to look into making this happen, but I will only do it if you guys don't pick on my work! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif would be very cool to come and a part of this great gathering of muscle cars. What do I need to do to secure a spot? Host hotel? Rooms? Hopefully Chris Short (shor) will check in..he lives about 40 minutes from me hopefully I could join his caravan out from Jersey. This could be alot of fun!!

Re: Rolled outside for the first time

you got it al!
we drive out to latrobe pa(a 6 hour trip), and meet up with the supercar workshop crew..seeing the shop and the current projects under way there is a show by itself!
we all go out for dinner, then sleep over that night, and we hit the road about 5am the next morning.
there should be about 6 or 7 trucks and trailers caravanning this year...
the road trip is almost as much fun as the show https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
i'll pm you the details!

Alss 05-19-2005 05:39 AM

Re: Rolled outside for the first time

Sounds like a good time to me. Do I have to register for the show?....or just show up. Making final arrangements for time off then I can contact the host hotel...hope there are rooms left.

We have an informal list going as to who is coming, but as we get closer, we will try and get a more accurate head count. Glad you have decided to make the trek. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
