Yenko Deuce found in Fla
Well after a year my Yenko Deuce hunt has been solved. It turns out the car I thought I found last year was sold a while back to some guy out west. I just talked to the ex-Florida owner and he knew what he had, said he bought it for $6000 and sold it for around $12,000. But he said it was rusted to hell and back and he thought it might require a re-body. I not sure about that as I did'nt see the car in person. Aparently the reason it appeared still unfound to me was probably because the new owner had not transfered the Florida title yet? It still shows active on the Fla Title d-base.?!
The Deuce was a Cranberry, 4 spd, vin-W350981. I guess you guys probably had talked about it on here on Supercars but I somehow missed it. This one should be updated on the Vin list as found. oh well, better luck next time for me....I'm a day late...again. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif |
Re: Yenko Deuce found in Fla
Is the name of your town really Taintsville?
|
Re: Yenko Deuce found in Fla
Well not actually, I live in a small burg right near to the real town of Taintsville. It taint Oviedo and it taint Chulota, as the locals say. Those are the two towns that Taintsvilles in between. Taintsville is actually two signs about 1000 feet apart on a local highway with about three small farms in between, strange but true. A cooler name than my town so I use it.

Re: Yenko Deuce found in Fla
Does the ex-Florida owner own a body shop?
|
Re: Yenko Deuce found in Fla
I doubt that he does. He bought it to restore but he sold it when he needed some dough. He said he wishes he would of kept it because he probably will never have the opportunity to have another. His description made it sound like it was a real hulk. I did'nt ask him if it had the original engine, trans, or rear. I'm guessing, but I got the impression that it likely didn't. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Yenko Deuce found in Fla
That car is alive and well and owned by Gene Engler in Ia.There's pics of it at the 04 reunion. It had a few rust issues, but not to bad compared to some of the stuff we see. Still has the original CBW rear. Was originaly sold from Fencl tufo.
The car was owned by a body shop owner in Port St. Lucie Fla. He bought it, thought it would take to much time to fix, and flipped it. She then made her way to deuce heaven here in Ia. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Nice catch Mike. Until you mentioned body shop I didn't even think of it being the same car. |
Re: Yenko Deuce found in Fla
Thanks for the info. I'm glad it will finally be restored. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

I like it with those wheels.

Re: Yenko Deuce found in Fla
So what's the story behind the fender emblems? Yenko Crest above the marker lights, but no engine designation?
|
Re: Yenko Deuce found in Fla
When the car was repainted in the 70's in Ill. they replaced the frt fenders with nos. While the owner at the time had extensive drawings of the stripe locations he just left them off as sort of a sleeper look. Chose to put the emblems where the 350 normaly would be. That way he didn't have to drill holes either.
Back "in the day" ir wasn't uncomon to change, or leave off motor size emblems. You remember. You're old like me. Well actually, your older. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif |

NOS fenders were installed many years ago along with a repaint, note that there is no NOVA emblems on there either. Frankie spoke with the original owner, and there does not appear to be anything different with this deuce when new. So, it most likely had the YENKO crest emblem below the NOVA emblem when new. I will try to attach an old-school pic when it was still in IL - years before it went to FL.

Re: Yenko Deuce found in Fla
yea, these are the '69 emblems with the peggies, s/b the stickies. What did you put back on it Schoneye?

Re: Yenko Deuce found in Fla
Good Lord; is there ANYTHING you guys DON'T know about these cars? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif
OK Marlin, how much air pressure was in the left front tire when that picture was taken? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif (Feel free to consult with Schonye, since it was closer to him in Illinois at the time) Cool story. Thanks! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif "You remember. You're old like me. Well actually, your older." Yeah I remember, but according to you, I probably won't remember much longer. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif All we have to look forward to is to have Gibb and Yenko crests on our rocking chairs soon. Hey, maybe some BBC powered wheel chairs will be available by then! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif (ZL-1s would be lighter, right? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif) https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif |

This deuce was not a 'hulk'! [/ QUOTE ] Sorry, I ment no offense, I stated earlier in the thread that I never saw the car. The florida guy told me on the phone that he thought it was rough enough to maybe need a rebody?? Thats what he said... the hulk remark came from that statement. It sure did'nt look that bad in the pictures shown in the thread. I would of bought it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |

The deuce crowd is fortunate in that the owners are very willing to donate their info, paperwork, stories, contacts and pictures for the good of everyone. A https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif to the owners! |
Re: Yenko Deuce found in Fla
Still truly amazing. If I haven't told you before Marlin, I was really captivated by your talk at SCR8...that is until the goof offs at the table behind us started fooling around (meaning Charley, Belair...the moderator dudes https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif)
Great information at SCR8...thanks for sharing https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

Re: Yenko Deuce found in Fla
There area couple of unusual issues with this car, one that I believe has been solved. The white stripe issue was one. In conversation with the last Ill. owner, he said he believed it had white stripes. Mr. Ed who was in charge of deuce sales at Fencl at the time also said white was correct. Frank has talked with the original owner who says they were black, and has pictures. Hopefully we'll get to see them someday to really know for sure.
The other issue is that it has a radio delete dash. Not a plate, the dash housing. The date on the back of this dash correlates with the build date of the car. All deuces had am radios as standard, so it's possible the dash was replaced at some time, but to be that close on the build date of the car makes me wonder if it wasn't a factory mistake. Not the first,;ie Jerry Albert's custom trim option deuce. Hopefully the original owner car help with that issue also. Mr Cumby, I'd be happy to spend my wheelchair years with you, although I'm thinkin 302, or LT/1. Maybe they'll let us run em off at SCR25. Hopefully no females flash us at the big end. Probably give us both a heart attack, but what a way to go. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif |
Re: Yenko Deuce found in Fla
Is this the same Deuce that was parked behind the Furniture store on Ogden in Downers Grove?

Re: Yenko Deuce found in Fla
Again guys, astounding information from both of you. Makes me wish I actually HAD bought the Deuce in '70 as opposed to the Chevelle. (Hey, I tried! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif)
But what's with this "Mr. Cumby" from you and Bruce? Is there something I don't know about; maybe rumors of an early demise????? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif OK, let's consider these wheelchairs a little. If we place a 'back door' order for some 'specially equipped chairs', do you suppose we could actually compete as COPO vehicles at SCR25? (Damn, now Charley will probably start 'stockin' up.) And re: the flashing at the finish line..... my eyes aren't that good NOW Schonye, so PLEASE tell me if you see something I miss! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

Re: Yenko Deuce found in Fla
This car is NOT the same one that was behind the antique store on Ogden. The car is the H/O 4 speed car that has been found and is being restored.
Geno's car is VERY cool and has a great history. I was able to find the original owner of the car, Dave F. He told me that he worked at the body shop of Fencl Tufo and actually bought this car there from Mr. Ed. I asked him about the stripes and he said that they were for sure black and that he has pics of the car at his mothers house. (suprisingly cause the guy is 61 years old!) I am SUPER excited to see the copy of the bill from Fencl Tufo showing the engine rebilud parts! I never knew that was done. What is the date on the bill? If I remember correctly doesn't this car have it's original build sheet and some other paper? Shonye also had a cool story about how he found a business card from a local Chicago band tucked under the dash board of the car. I can never hear enough stories about these cars! Tell more! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif One other interesting tidbit of info is that Fencl Tufo sold 6 Yenko Deuce Novas and we have either spoken to or know of 5 of the original owners. The 6th is that damn Citrus Green Draggin Deuce! I WILL find that car before it is all said and done! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |
