Your loving the original unmolested, repainted (incorrectly look at the distance between the rear window and the top of the stripe and the paint under the spoiler on the trunk lip), RS added (RS Z28's have rallysport emblemson the fender not Camaro emblems plus no wiper solenoid, or washer tank (or mounting holes) on the passenger fenderwell, ZL2 added (September car ZL2s not avaialble till late December, Early January of 69) Z28?

It is a nice looking car, but unmolested, unrestored, hardly.

Amazing how some, choose to describe the cars they are selling. A little knowledge and honesty would go a long way... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

Who said anything about a "soft" Market? 2005 has been a year where all kinds of price records have been set, not to mention the all time record muscle car sales volume.

Re: I'm loving this 69 RS Z

I personally think a prestine (original) '69 Z28 with paper can be had for $75K-$100K (ish). But on the same boat, a solid driver, all original car like mine could fetch around $50K+. This just goes to show how important doing proper research and inspecting counts! Everything varries car to car.

That burnish brown RS/Z is a super nice! Looks awesome with no spoilers and a cowl hood. SMOG with some nice options... I would love another like that!

With all this record sales volume and super prices it's good thing there are more muscles cars now than Detroit ever made!!!

Agreed, I hate seeing someone trying to pass off something it isn't, especially when selling. I only like the look of it and the color. Not being an interested buyer, I wasn't going to pick the car apart, I have enough of the local "experts" that do that on my Camaro.

Plus those 1967 Center Caps sure look purdy on the car and the close up of the replacement carb numbers really adds to the unmolested, untouched story. Come on. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif

Actually all 68-69 Camaros have body color painted strikers on the decklid and the latch portion bolted to the tailpanel support. They were already bolted in place before the car was painted. The same goes for the door latches and strikers, all were painted in 68-69. Now the 67's had the latches and strikers bolted in after the cars were painted but sometime during the year they changed that procedure. I am not completely up to date on the time frame of each plant but late 67's had painted latches in the doors and the trunk. I know the trunk latch and strikers were already being painted body color sometime around late Feb or early March of 67 for the Norwood cars, maybe earlier. Not sure on the doors though, maybe Jon M. can shed some light on this subject.................RatPack..................

Isn't that the truth.......Look at the number of L-79 cars that are out there, probably twice as many that were ever built..........Also there is a Yellow 69 ZL-1 Clone in the area that is represented as 1 of 69 https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif

back to the original car. weren't cowl hoods only on later built cars? Can someone shed some light on cowl hoods for 69 Z28s?

Re: I'm loving this 69 RS Z

The cowl hood (ZL2) was introduced in mid-December of 68. I recall reading (probably on CRG) that 80 some percent of Z's came with flat hoods.

Here you go Johnny. Just found this. RPO ZL2

Both of my March and also my June built car are original ZL2 and D80 cars. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Thanks Darren. If the #of Zs with cowl hoods is accurate(%20) how come it seems like i see them on %90 of the Z28s i come across? Just that popular an upgrade or do people try to pass them off as factory? Is there anyway to tell if this car came with that hood?

Re: I'm loving this 69 RS Z

Troy,

My '67 was built 07B at the LA plant and it still has the unpainted door strikers and trunk lid catch. I have never personally seen an original paint '67 LA-built car with those items painted. '68 and '69 are a different story.

-Jon

P.S. Nice magazine article on your Bill Thomas car!

Jon, from discussions I have had with Mike and others I thought that the LOS plant did things different. The two 67 Z's I have here are the same as your car, plated strikers and latches. That early Norwood L78 I had here a while back was either a late Feb or early March car and the decklid striker and latch were painted red as were the door latches. I have one picture where you can barely see the door striker and it looks unpainted. I know the car had one repaint but the jambs were original paint. See the attached picture showing the decklid latch, I have one of the striker somewhere...............RatPack............

Thanks for the compliment on the article............
